How to Add Quotev Stories to Calibre

To add a Quotev story to calibre, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and import the file using calibre’s Add books option. You can then edit its details and cover, read it offline, convert it to another format, or transfer it to an e-reader.

What you need

WP Downloader is a free web tool, with nothing to install. calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

You will need:

• The Quotev story’s web address
• WP Downloader
• calibre installed on your computer
• A USB cable if you plan to transfer the book to an e-reader

A Quotev story link usually looks like this:

WP Downloader handles complete Quotev stories. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories from Quotev.

Step 1: Download the Quotev story as an EPUB

Open the Quotev downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects that the link is from Quotev and prepares the story for download.

You do not need to sign in to Quotev. Choose EPUB to add the story to calibre. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images.

You can also download a PDF after signing in with a free Discord account. EPUB is more useful for a calibre library because calibre can read it and convert it to other e-book formats.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. If you need AZW3, MOBI, or another format that calibre supports, download the EPUB and convert it in calibre.

Step 2: Add the EPUB to calibre

After the EPUB finishes downloading, open calibre on your computer.

1. Select Add books.
2. Choose the Quotev EPUB you downloaded.
3. Wait for the book to appear in your calibre library.
4. Select the book to read or manage it.

The story is now in your calibre library with your other books, so you do not have to find it in your downloads folder each time you want to read it.

Step 3: Edit the details and cover

calibre lets you edit a book’s metadata and cover. You can use these options to make downloaded stories easier to recognize and organize.

Select the Quotev story and open calibre’s metadata editor. Review the book’s information, change anything you want, and edit its cover if needed.

If you use a consistent approach for each story, a growing library is easier to manage. You might review the details and cover whenever you add a new download.

Changes made in calibre affect only the copy in your personal library. They do not change the original story on Quotev.

Step 4: Read or listen in calibre

Open the story in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it offline on your computer.

The viewer also has a Read aloud feature. Open the book and select that option when you want to listen instead of reading on the screen.

You can manage, read, and convert the same EPUB from your calibre library or prepare it for an e-reader.

Step 5: Convert the story if needed

You can keep and read the EPUB in calibre without converting it. Convert the file only if your device or reading setup needs a different format.

calibre can convert e-books between formats, including:

• EPUB to AZW3
• EPUB to MOBI
• EPUB to PDF

Select the story, open calibre’s conversion option, and choose the output format. WP Downloader creates the original EPUB or PDF, while calibre handles conversions such as EPUB to AZW3 or MOBI.

Step 6: Transfer it to an e-reader

Connect your e-reader to the computer with a USB cable. After calibre recognizes the device, select the Quotev story and use the option to send the book to it.

You can keep the original EPUB in your calibre library after making a copy in another format. This leaves you with a source file that you can read or convert again later.

Updating an ongoing story

WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. When a Quotev story gets new chapters, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download the complete story as a new EPUB.

Add the new file to calibre. Metadata and cover changes in calibre are separate from the download, so check them again after importing the new copy.
