How to Save a Backup of Chaos (Sycophant Hex) Stories

Authors and archive sites can edit, unpublish or delete stories. WP Downloader lets you save a personal EPUB or PDF copy of a Chaos story for offline reading.

Download a Chaos story with WP Downloader

Start with the story’s main page URL. A Chaos story link usually looks like this:

Then follow these steps:

1. Open the Chaos downloader.
2. Paste the story URL into the box.
3. Wait for WP Downloader to detect the site and fetch the story.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the finished file.

EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. You do not need a Chaos account to download stories from chaos.sycophanthex.com.

WP Downloader does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters or age restrictions. Support for Chaos and the other fiction archives on the supported sites page was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

Treat each download as a snapshot

A downloaded EPUB is a snapshot of the story at the time you saved it. The file will not change if the author later edits the story or publishes more chapters.

WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. Download the story again whenever you want a newer copy. You can keep both versions until you have checked the new file, using filenames that make them easy to tell apart.

Keep a separate backup copy

Store the original EPUB or PDF somewhere you can find it again. If you import a copy into a reading app or transfer it to an e-reader, keep the original in your regular files.

One simple routine is:

1. Download the story as EPUB or PDF.
2. Give the file a recognizable name.
3. Store the original in a folder for saved stories.
4. Copy it to the app or device where you plan to read it.
5. Download the story again when you want later edits or chapters.

Keep downloaded copies for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.

Read the backup on a phone or tablet

To read an EPUB, open or import the downloaded file in an app that supports EPUB files. If you downloaded a PDF, open it in a PDF reader.

Keep the original file outside the reading app too. You will still have your saved copy if you later remove the book from the app.

Organize and read stories with calibre

Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS and Linux. You can use it to keep your saved stories in one library.

To add a story:

1. Open calibre.
2. Select “Add books.”
3. Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
4. Check the title, author, cover and other metadata.
5. Open the book in calibre’s e-book viewer when you want to read it.

Calibre can edit metadata and covers, convert books between formats, and send books to a connected e-reader over USB. For example, it can convert an EPUB to AZW3, MOBI or PDF. WP Downloader itself does not create MOBI, AZW3 or TXT files.

The calibre e-book viewer also has a “Read aloud” feature for listening to the text of a saved book.

Put the story on an e-reader

For a Kindle, download the EPUB and follow the guide to send Chaos stories to Kindle. Calibre can also convert the file or send it to a connected e-reader over USB.

Keep another copy of the downloaded file in your personal backup folder so that replacing the e-reader copy does not affect the original.
