How to Save a Personal Backup of a FanficAuthors Story
Authors and archive sites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. WP Downloader lets you save a personal EPUB or PDF copy of a FanficAuthors story while it is available. The file is a snapshot of the story when you downloaded it, so later changes to the online version will not affect your copy.
Download a FanficAuthors story
WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. You do not need a FanficAuthors account.
- Open the story on its FanficAuthors subdomain.
- Copy the URL from your browser’s address bar. It should follow this general pattern:

- Paste the story link into the box.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the book as an EPUB or PDF.
EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. For FanficAuthors, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not download individual chapters or story lists.
WP Downloader only downloads material you can already read. It does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions. Its support for FanficAuthors and the other archive sites was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

Download the story again when it changes
Your EPUB or PDF does not stay connected to the story page. If the author edits a chapter or publishes another one, the file you already have will not update.
Return to WP Downloader and download the whole story again to get the newer version. You can keep the old and new files separately if you also want to preserve the version you first read.
Keep downloaded stories for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.
Store your copy
Put the EPUB or PDF in a folder where you can find it later. A dedicated folder and recognizable filenames can make a growing collection easier to manage.
Preserve the downloaded file itself. A bookmark will not retain the story’s text if the author or site later removes it.
Read the story on a phone or tablet
Open the downloaded EPUB in an EPUB-reading app on your phone or tablet. The controls will depend on the device and app you use.
You can also download the story as a PDF, which requires a free Discord sign-in. Keep the original file even if your reading app imports another copy, so you can move it to a different device or library later.
Organize stories with calibre
Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Use Add books to place the downloaded EPUB in your calibre library.
You can edit the book’s metadata and cover, read it in calibre’s e-book viewer, or use the viewer’s Read aloud feature. Calibre can also send books to a connected e-reader over USB.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. If you need another format, calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. Keep the original EPUB alongside converted copies in case you want to convert it again.
Move the story to an e-reader
