How to Save Personal Copies of Fanfics.me Stories

Treat the EPUB as a dated snapshot

An EPUB does not change when the online story is updated. If the author posts another chapter or makes an edit you want to keep, download the whole story again. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB.

You can replace the older file or keep both versions. Clear filenames or a separate folder for each story can make older and newer downloads easier to identify.

Keep downloaded copies for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.

Keep more than one personal copy

Keep the original EPUB somewhere you control instead of relying on the copy imported into a reading app. You may also want to store another copy in a separate personal location.

When you download a newer version of an unfinished story, decide whether to replace the earlier file or keep both snapshots. Saving both lets you retain earlier edits as well as the newest chapters.

Organize the story with calibre

Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You can use it to collect EPUB files in one library and edit their metadata and covers.

To add a story:

1. Open calibre.
2. Select Add books.
3. Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
4. Review the title, author, cover, and other metadata.
5. Edit the metadata or cover if needed.

Calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. WP Downloader itself does not produce MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

You can read the story in calibre’s e-book viewer, which includes a Read aloud feature. Calibre can also send the book to an e-reader connected by USB.

Read your copy on another device

Open the EPUB in a compatible reading app on your phone, tablet, or computer. Keep the original downloaded file after importing it into the app.

Check that the book opens on your chosen device. If you included the story’s images, check that they appear as expected.
