How to back up Imagine: The List stories
Authors and archive owners can edit, unpublish or delete stories. WP Downloader lets you save a personal EPUB or PDF copy of an Imagine: The List story for offline reading. The file is a snapshot of the story when you download it, so it will not change if the online version is edited later.
Download the story with WP Downloader
WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. For Imagine: The List, it downloads the whole story. It does not download individual chapters or lists of stories.
1. Copy the story link
Open the story on imagine.e-fic.com and copy its address. It should look like this:

2. Paste it into WP Downloader
Open the Imagine: The List downloader, paste the link into the box and let WP Downloader detect the site.
You can download public stories without signing in. If you sign in with your Imagine: The List account, WP Downloader can also reach members-only stories that the account is allowed to read. It uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.
WP Downloader can only download material that your account can already open. It does not bypass age restrictions, locked content or other access limits.
3. Choose EPUB or PDF
Choose one of the available formats:
- EPUB is free for everyone.
- PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
You can also include the story’s images. Start the download and save the finished file somewhere you can find it later.
Support for Imagine: The List and the other fiction archives available through WP Downloader was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader licensed under Apache-2.0.
Keep more than one copy
If you want a second copy, save the downloaded file in your usual books folder and copy it to another device or storage location you use.
A clear filename can help when you have several versions of the same story. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. To save later chapters, download the story again and decide whether to keep or replace the older file.
Keep downloaded copies for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.
Save and read the backup on your devices
On a phone or tablet
Move the downloaded EPUB or PDF into the folder where you keep books or documents, then open it in an app that supports the format.
In calibre on a computer
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS and Linux. You can use it to organize saved stories in one library.
To add a story:
- Open calibre and select “Add books.”
- Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
- Check the title, author, cover and other metadata.
- Read the story in calibre’s e-book viewer, or use its “Read aloud” feature to listen on your computer.
calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI or PDF. WP Downloader itself does not create MOBI, AZW3 or TXT files.
On an e-reader
calibre can send books to an e-reader connected to your computer over USB. The format you need depends on the reader.

When to download the story again
A downloaded file does not update when the author edits the story or posts more chapters.
Download the story again when you want a newer version. The new file will contain whatever your account can read at that time.
FAQ
Can I back up a single chapter?
No. For Imagine: The List, WP Downloader downloads whole stories only. It does not download individual chapters or story lists.
Do I need an Imagine: The List account?
Not for public stories. Signing in is optional and lets WP Downloader access members-only stories that your account can already read.
Will my EPUB receive new chapters automatically?
No. WP Downloader does not update an existing EPUB. Download the story again to save a version with later chapters.
Can WP Downloader create a MOBI or AZW3 file?
No. WP Downloader creates EPUB and PDF files. You can add the EPUB to calibre and convert it to MOBI, AZW3 or PDF.
Is it okay to share my backup?
Keep downloaded copies for your own reading. Do not re-upload the story or share the file with other people.
