How to Back Up The Sietch Stories
Authors and websites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. You can use WP Downloader to save a personal EPUB copy of a story from The Sietch. The tool is free, runs in your browser, and does not require an installation.
Download the story with WP Downloader
Stories on The Sietch are published as forum threads. WP Downloader gathers a thread’s threadmarked chapters into one book.
Copy the story’s thread URL. It should look like this:
https://www.the-sietch.com/index.php?threads/some-story-name.123456/ Then:
- Open the The Sietch downloader.
- Paste the story link into the box.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the book as an EPUB.
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. PDF is also available after you sign in with a free Discord account.
WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download individual chapters or lists from The Sietch. You do not need an account for public stories. If you sign in with your The Sietch account, the tool can also reach members-only stories that your account can read.
Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested. WP Downloader cannot bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions.
See how to download The Sietch stories for more help with the download process.
Save the EPUB as a personal backup
An EPUB is a snapshot of the story at the time you downloaded it. Move the original file somewhere you can find it easily instead of leaving it in your downloads folder.
A clear filename will help you identify the story later. You can sort your backups into folders by site, series, or whatever system works for you.
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. If the author publishes more threadmarked chapters, paste the story link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy. You can then keep the earlier snapshot or replace it.
Keep these copies for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share downloaded stories.
Read your backup on a phone or tablet
Open the EPUB with an app that supports the format. If your browser asks how to open the file, choose your reading app. Otherwise, find the EPUB in your downloaded files and open or import it from there.
Keep the original EPUB separate from the copy imported into your reading app. You can then use the saved file again if you change apps or devices.
WP Downloader can also create a PDF after you sign in with a free Discord account. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files directly.
Organize and read stories with calibre
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Use Add books to place downloaded EPUBs in your calibre library.
You can use calibre to:
- Edit book metadata and covers.
- Read the story in its e-book viewer.
- Use the viewer’s Read aloud feature.
- Convert EPUB files to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.
- Send books to a connected e-reader over USB.
Converting the EPUB may help when your device or reading app requires a format that WP Downloader does not create.
Move the story to an e-reader
calibre can send an EPUB or converted file to a compatible e-reader connected over USB.
For instructions for a particular device, see how to send The Sietch stories to Kindle or read The Sietch stories on Kobo.
Keep the original EPUB after converting it. You can use that copy as your backup or convert it to another format later.
