Do FanFiktion.de Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?

Add the EPUB to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Imported books appear in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

1. Open the EPUB from Safari’s downloads or the Files app.
2. Tap Share.
3. Choose Books.

Apple Books will add the story to your Library.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the EPUB.

After the import, open the story from your Apple Books Library.

How Apple Books Reading Goals work

Apple Books tracks:

• How many minutes you read each day
• How many books and audiobooks you finish each year

The daily goal is five minutes by default. You can change it from the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or from Home on a Mac.

WP Downloader creates the EPUB or PDF. Apple Books determines whether reading activity in that file is added to your goals.

Check whether an imported EPUB counts

Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. Check the result on your device:

1. Open Apple Books and note today’s reading time.
2. Open the imported FanFiktion.de EPUB.
3. Read for a minute or two.
4. Return to Reading Goals and see whether today’s reading time has increased.

If the time increases, Apple Books is counting that imported EPUB on your device. If it does not, the file may not be adding to your daily goal.

Read for the full minute or two during the test instead of simply opening the book. This makes the before-and-after result easier to see.

What about FanFiktion.de stories saved as PDFs?

PDF reading counts toward an Apple Books goal only when Include PDFs is turned on.

On current versions of iOS, open Settings, choose Apps, then Books, and turn on Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books.

After enabling the setting, note today’s reading time, read the imported PDF for a minute or two, and check whether the total has increased.
