Do FicWad Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?
You can add a FicWad story to Apple Books as an EPUB or PDF. PDFs count toward Reading Goals when Include PDFs is turned on. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time, so you will need to test the EPUB after adding it.
Download the FicWad story

You can choose from two formats:
- EPUB is free for everyone.
- PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. Apple Books has a separate setting that controls whether PDF reading counts toward your goal.
You can also include the story’s images.
You do not need to sign in to FicWad for public stories. Signing in lets WP Downloader retrieve members-only stories that your FicWad account can already read. Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested. WP Downloader cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.

Add the story to Apple Books
Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. After you import the story, it appears in your Library.
On an iPhone or iPad
- Open the downloaded EPUB or PDF from the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Books.
- Find the story in your Apple Books Library.
On a Mac
Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the EPUB.
The story will appear in your Apple Books Library.
How Reading Goals work
Apple Books tracks how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year. The daily goal is five minutes by default.
On an iPhone or iPad, you can change the daily goal from the Reading Now tab. On a Mac, change it from Home.
Importing a story does not record reading time. You need to open the story and read it, and the rules differ for PDFs and imported EPUBs.
Check whether a FicWad EPUB counts
Apple’s documentation does not say whether an EPUB you import yourself counts toward daily reading time. Check it on your device:
- Open Apple Books and note today’s reading time.
- Open the imported FicWad EPUB.
- Read for a minute or two.
- Return to Reading Goals.
- See whether today’s reading time increased.
If the total rises, Apple Books is recording the time you spend reading that EPUB. If it stays the same, the imported EPUB may not be adding to the goal on your device and software version.
Let FicWad PDFs count
A PDF counts toward the reading goal only when Include PDFs is turned on.
On current iOS versions, open Settings, Apps, Books, then turn on Include PDFs.
On older versions, open Settings, Books, then turn on Include PDFs.
Next, open the FicWad PDF in Apple Books, read for a minute or two, and check the day’s total.
