How to Track Naiceanilme Reading in Apple Books

Add the story to Apple Books
Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. An imported story appears in your Library.
On iPhone or iPad
After downloading the file:
- Open it from Safari’s downloads or the Files app.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Books.
- Open Apple Books and find the story in your Library.
If you downloaded both formats, check the file type before testing your Reading Goals so you know whether you opened the EPUB or PDF.
On Mac
Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the EPUB.
The imported story will appear in your Apple Books Library.
How Apple Books Reading Goals work
Apple Books tracks how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year. The default daily goal is five minutes.
On an iPhone or iPad, you can change the daily goal from the Reading Now tab. On a Mac, you can change it from Home.
A story appearing in your Library does not confirm that Apple Books is adding its reading time to your daily total. Check the total after reading to find out.
Check whether an imported EPUB counts
Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. You can test an imported Naiceanilme EPUB on your device:
- Note today’s reading time in Apple Books.
- Open the imported EPUB.
- Read for one or two minutes.
- Return to Reading Goals and check whether today’s reading time increased.
If the total increases, Apple Books is recording the time spent reading that EPUB on your device. If it does not increase, the EPUB may not be contributing to the goal.
Make PDF reading count
PDFs count toward Apple Books Reading Goals only when Include PDFs is turned on.
On current iOS versions:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap Books.
- Turn on Include PDFs.
On older iOS versions, open Settings, tap Books, and turn on Include PDFs.
After changing the setting, open the PDF in Apple Books and read for a minute or two. Then check whether the day’s reading time increased.
