Do NovelFull Stories Count in Apple Books Reading Goals?
Apple Books can open NovelFull stories saved as EPUB or PDF files. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself add to your daily Reading Goals time, so you will need to test the file. Read it for a minute or two, then see whether today’s total has increased. PDFs count only when the Include PDFs setting is enabled.
Download a NovelFull story with WP Downloader

Add the story to Apple Books
Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. After you import the story, it appears in your Library.
On an iPhone or iPad
After WP Downloader finishes:
- Open the downloaded EPUB or PDF from the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Books.
- Open Apple Books and find the story in your Library.
On a Mac
Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the file. The story will appear in your Library.
How Apple Books Reading Goals work
Apple Books Reading Goals track how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year.
The daily goal is five minutes by default. To change it on an iPhone or iPad, use the Reading Now tab. On a Mac, use Home.
Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. Adding a NovelFull EPUB to your Library therefore does not confirm that Apple Books will record the time you spend reading it.
Check whether your imported EPUB counts
Test the file on your device:
- Note today’s Reading Goals time in Apple Books.
- Open the imported NovelFull EPUB.
- Read for a minute or two.
- Return to your Reading Goals display.
- Check whether today’s reading time increased.
If the total rises, Apple Books counted that reading time. If it stays the same, the reading time did not appear in the daily total during your test.
Make a NovelFull PDF count toward your goal
PDFs count toward Reading Goals only when Include PDFs is turned on.
On current iOS versions, open Settings, then Apps, then Books, and enable Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books, and enable the same option.
Open the NovelFull PDF in Apple Books, read for a minute or two, and check whether today’s reading time has increased.
EPUB is the standard ebook option for Apple Books. If you choose PDF, make sure Include PDFs is enabled before checking your Reading Goals time.
