Do PMD Fan Fiction Stories Count in Apple Books Reading Goals?
You can add a PMD Fan Fiction story to Apple Books as an EPUB or PDF. PDFs can count toward your Reading Goals when Include PDFs is enabled. Apple does not clearly say whether EPUB files you import yourself count, so you will need to test the story in the Books app.
Download a PMD Fan Fiction story

Add the story to Apple Books
Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Files you import appear in your Library with your other books.
On iPhone or iPad
After downloading the file:
- Open the EPUB or PDF from the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Books.
Apple Books will open and add the file to your Library. You can then read the story from the Books app.
On Mac
Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the file.
The imported story will appear in your Apple Books Library.
How Reading Goals work
Apple Books Reading Goals track:
- How many minutes you read each day
- How many books and audiobooks you finish each year
The daily goal is five minutes by default. You can change it from the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or from Home on a Mac.
Adding a PMD Fan Fiction story to your Library does not confirm that Apple Books will include its reading time. This depends on the file format and your Books settings.
Check whether an imported EPUB counts
Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. It would therefore be inaccurate to say that every imported PMD Fan Fiction EPUB counts, or that none of them do.
Check your EPUB in the Books app:
- Note today’s reading time in Apple Books.
- Open the imported PMD Fan Fiction EPUB.
- Read for a minute or two.

Make a PDF count
PDF reading counts toward your goal only when Include PDFs is turned on.

Once the setting is enabled, open the imported PDF in Apple Books and read for a minute or two. Check the day’s total afterward to confirm that the time was recorded.
