Do Psychfic Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?

You can read downloaded Psychfic stories in Apple Books. PDFs count toward Reading Goals when Include PDFs is turned on. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time, so you will need to check the imported story in the Books app.

Download a Psychfic story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. It can download a complete Psychfic story as an EPUB or PDF.

1. Find the story on psychfic.com.
2. Copy its URL. It should look like this:

http://www.psychfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=1234

3. Open the Psychfic downloader.
4. Paste the URL into the box and start the download.
5. Choose EPUB, which is free for everyone, or PDF, which requires a free Discord sign-in.
6. Turn on the image option if you want to include the story’s images.

You do not need a Psychfic account. WP Downloader downloads the whole story from this archive, so it cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories.

For more help, see the Psychfic download guide.

Add the story to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Files you import appear in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

After downloading the story:

1. Open the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
2. Find the EPUB or PDF.
3. Tap Share.
4. Choose Books.

The Books app will open and add the story to your Library.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the file.

The story will appear in your Books Library.

How Apple Books Reading Goals work

Reading Goals track:

• How many minutes you read each day
• How many books and audiobooks you finish each year

The daily goal is five minutes by default. You can change it from the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or from Home on a Mac.

The Reading Goals display shows how much reading time Apple Books has recorded for the current day. You can use that total to check whether an imported Psychfic story counts.

Make PDF reading count

PDFs count toward your reading goal only when Include PDFs is turned on.

On current versions of iOS:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Apps.
3. Select Books.
4. Turn on Include PDFs.

On older versions, open Settings, select Books, and turn on Include PDFs.

Once the setting is on, time spent reading a Psychfic story imported as a PDF can count toward your Reading Goals.

Check whether an imported EPUB counts

Apple does not document whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. You can check what happens on your device:

1. Open Apple Books and note today’s reading time.
2. Open the imported Psychfic EPUB.
3. Read for a minute or two.
4. Return to your Reading Goals.
5. See whether today’s reading time increased.

If the total increased, Apple Books counted the imported EPUB on your device. If it did not, the app did not record that short session toward your goal.

You can repeat the check after reading for a little longer. Testing the imported file is the clearest way to find out because Apple does not document this behavior.

Choose EPUB or PDF for a Psychfic story

EPUB is free for everyone through WP Downloader and opens in Apple Books. Apple does not say whether EPUBs you import yourself count toward daily reading time.

PDF also opens in Apple Books and has a specific Reading Goals setting. Turn on Include PDFs if you want time spent reading the PDF to count.

Choose the format you prefer, then follow the steps above to check what Apple Books records. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
