Download a story with WP Downloader

Open the AlternateHistory downloader. You can also paste the story link into the box on the WP Downloader home page, which will detect that the link comes from alternatehistory.com.

1. Open the story thread on alternatehistory.com.
2. Copy the full URL from your browser’s address bar.
3. Paste the URL into WP Downloader.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Follow the instructions to create and download the book.

WP Downloader combines the threadmarked chapters into a single book. For alternatehistory.com, it downloads the whole story, not individual chapters or lists.

Which AlternateHistory URL should you use?

Use the main URL of the story’s forum thread. It should look like this:

Copy the address from the main story thread instead of an individual post. WP Downloader uses the thread URL to find the threadmarked chapters.

If the copied link contains extra information after the thread address, return to the main thread page and copy the URL again.

Do you need to sign in?

You do not need to sign in for public alternatehistory.com stories. Paste the public story URL into WP Downloader to begin.

For a members-only story, you can sign in with your alternatehistory.com account. WP Downloader will use your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.

WP Downloader can download only content that your account can already read. It does not bypass paywalls, locked content, or age restrictions.

Should you choose EPUB or PDF?

EPUB is free for everyone. PDF creation requires a free Discord sign-in.

Get newly posted chapters

WP Downloader cannot add chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When the author posts more threadmarked chapters, paste the story URL into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.

The new book will contain the threadmarked chapters that are available and accessible to your account at the time of the download.

Will my existing EPUB update when a new chapter appears?

No. Paste the story URL into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
