How to listen to FanficAuthors stories with text-to-speech
To listen to a FanficAuthors story with text-to-speech, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and open the file in an app that can read it aloud. You can use the EPUB on a phone, tablet, or computer and keep it for offline listening.
Download the story as an EPUB

Copy the story’s address from your browser. A FanficAuthors story URL looks like this:

Listen on an iPhone or iPad
Apple Books opens EPUB files and works with the built-in Speak Screen accessibility feature.
Turn on Speak Screen
- Open Settings.
- Go to Accessibility.
- Select Spoken Content.
- Turn on Speak Screen.
Open the EPUB in Apple Books and find where you want to begin. Swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen to have the page read aloud.
Speak Screen uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your device, so the narration depends on the voices available on your iPhone or iPad.
Listen on Android
You can use Android’s Select to Speak feature or an EPUB reader with its own read-aloud controls.
Use Select to Speak
Open Settings, go to Accessibility, and turn on Select to Speak. Once it is enabled, tap items on the screen to hear them read aloud.
The controls may look different depending on your device. Select to Speak uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your Android device.
Use Moon+ Reader
Moon+ Reader opens EPUB files and has a built-in text-to-speech mode. Open the FanficAuthors EPUB, find your starting point, and turn on read-aloud mode.
Use @Voice Aloud Reader
@Voice Aloud Reader can also read EPUB files aloud on Android. Open the EPUB from WP Downloader and use the app’s listening controls.
Both apps use your device’s installed text-to-speech voices, which affect how natural the narration sounds.
Listen on Windows, macOS, or Linux
Thorium Reader and calibre can read EPUB files aloud on a computer.

Thorium Reader is free and available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Open the FanficAuthors EPUB, go to your starting point, and use its read-aloud feature.

calibre is a free desktop application with an e-book viewer. Open the EPUB in the viewer and use its Read aloud feature.
Both programs rely on the text-to-speech voices installed on your computer, so the available voices determine how the narration sounds.
Get new chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When the author updates the story, paste its FanficAuthors link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
