Listen to The Hookup Zone Stories With Text-to-Speech
To listen to a story from the Criminal Minds Fic Archive, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and open the file in an app with text-to-speech. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install it.
Download the story as an EPUB
Open The Hookup Zone downloader, copy the address of the story you want to hear, and paste it into the box.

You do not need an account for public stories. If a story is available only to archive members, you can sign in with your account from that site. Listen on an iPhone or iPad
Apple Books opens EPUB files and works with the Speak Screen feature on iPhones and iPads.
Turn on Speak Screen first:
- Open Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select Spoken Content.
- Turn on Speak Screen.
Open the downloaded EPUB in Apple Books, then swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to have the page read aloud.
Speak Screen uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your device. If the narration sounds unnatural, the installed voice may be the cause rather than the EPUB.
Listen on Android
Android has a few options for reading the downloaded story aloud.
Use Select to Speak
Turn on Select to Speak under Accessibility in Settings. Open the story, start Select to Speak, and tap the items on the screen that you want to hear.
Use Moon+ Reader
Moon+ Reader opens EPUB files and has a built-in text-to-speech mode. Open the downloaded story in the app and start its read-aloud mode.
Use @Voice Aloud Reader
@Voice Aloud Reader also reads EPUB files aloud. Open or import the EPUB from WP Downloader, then start the app’s reading function.
These options use the text-to-speech voices installed on your Android device, so the available voices and their sound depend on the device.
Listen on Windows, macOS, or Linux
Thorium Reader and calibre are two free options for listening on a computer.
Use Thorium Reader
Thorium Reader is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Open the EPUB and start its read-aloud feature.
Use calibre
calibre is a desktop e-book application with an e-book viewer. Add or open the EPUB, launch it in the viewer, and select Read aloud.
Both programs use the text-to-speech voices installed on your computer. The system voice you select determines how the narration sounds.
Download new chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. If the author updates the story, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
The updated EPUB will be a separate file. Open that version in your reading app to continue listening.
FAQ
Is text-to-speech the same as an audiobook?
No. Text-to-speech uses a voice installed on your phone, tablet, or computer to read the EPUB aloud. How natural it sounds depends on that voice.
Do I need an account to download a story?
You do not need an account for public stories. Signing in with an account from the archive is optional and may give WP Downloader access to members-only stories that your account can read.
Can WP Downloader download one chapter?
No. For the Criminal Minds Fic Archive, WP Downloader downloads whole stories only. It cannot download single chapters or lists.
Can I download the story as TXT or MOBI?
No. WP Downloader provides EPUB and PDF files, not TXT, MOBI, or AZW3. Use EPUB with the text-to-speech apps in this guide.
Why can I not hear a newly added chapter?
