How to Print an Archive of Our Own Story from a PDF

Download the AO3 story as a PDF

You do not need to sign in to Archive of Our Own for public stories. Check the PDF before printing

Open the PDF and skim through it before printing. Check that the correct story downloaded and that the file is complete.

WP Downloader creates a PDF of the whole work. If you need only part of it, select the pages you want in the print dialog.

Download the story again if it has changed since you saved the PDF. WP Downloader cannot update an existing file with new chapters.

Print from a computer

Open the PDF in your browser or PDF reader and select Print. Choose your printer, then review the settings before starting the print job.

Check:

The page range
The number of copies
Color or black-and-white printing
One-sided or two-sided printing
Paper size and page orientation
The print preview

The available settings and their names depend on your PDF reader, printer, and operating system. Check the preview for blank pages or unexpected page breaks, especially before printing a long story.

Print from a phone or tablet

Open the PDF from your downloads or files. In the PDF viewer, open the Share, More, or menu control and choose Print.

Select your printer, check the page range and number of copies, and review the preview. If you cannot find the Print option, open the PDF in another reader or move the file to a computer.

Check the page count before printing a full story. For a partial print, select only the pages you need.

Use a print shop

Save the PDF somewhere you can access when placing the order. Tell the print shop which pages to print, whether you want color or black and white, and whether to print on one or both sides.
