Put Eros & Sappho Stories on a Kindle with calibre
You can put an Eros & Sappho story on a Kindle without using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First download the story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then use calibre to convert it to AZW3 and transfer it to your Kindle over USB.
What you need
Have these ready:
- The Eros & Sappho story page
- A computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux
- calibre installed on the computer
- Your Kindle and a USB cable
calibre is a free e-book manager. It can organize EPUB files, edit their metadata and covers, convert books to Kindle formats, and transfer them to an e-reader connected over USB.

Step 1: Copy the Eros & Sappho story link
Open the story on erosnsappho.sycophanthex.com and copy its address from your browser. The address should look like this:

WP Downloader treats Eros & Sappho stories as complete books. It cannot download a single chapter or a story list from this site.
Step 2: Download the story as an EPUB
Go to the Eros & Sappho downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader will recognize the archive and prepare the story.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and calibre can convert the file to a Kindle format. You can also choose whether to include the story’s images.
You do not need an Eros & Sappho account. WP Downloader will download the complete English-language story at the link.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books. Find the EPUB you downloaded and add it to your calibre library.
The story will appear in the library. You can edit its metadata or cover before transferring it, though this is optional.
You can also check the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer before converting it. The viewer has a Read aloud feature for listening on your computer.
Step 4: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in your calibre library and open the conversion options. Set the output format to AZW3, then start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format that can be transferred directly over USB. WP Downloader does not create AZW3 or MOBI files, so calibre handles the conversion.
calibre can also convert EPUB books to MOBI or PDF. For this method, choose AZW3 to create a Kindle-format copy for the USB transfer.
Step 5: Connect your Kindle over USB
Connect the Kindle to your computer with its USB cable. After calibre recognizes the device, select the converted story and choose Send to device.
calibre will copy the book to the Kindle over USB without uploading it through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service.
Once the transfer finishes, safely disconnect the Kindle. The story will be available to read offline on the device.
Why use USB instead of Send to Kindle?
A USB transfer lets calibre manage both the book and its Kindle conversion. The file moves directly from your computer to the connected device instead of passing through Amazon’s service.
Amazon’s Send to Kindle service no longer accepts MOBI files. Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB, so converting the EPUB to AZW3 is a practical option.

Updating a story later
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. If the Eros & Sappho story changes, download the whole story again. Add the new EPUB to calibre, then repeat the conversion and USB transfer.
