Put a FanficAuthors Story on Kindle With Calibre
You can put a FanficAuthors story on a Kindle without Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, add it to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and copy it to your Kindle over USB.
You will need a computer for this method. Before transferring the story, you can use calibre to manage the book and make any changes you want.
What you need
Make sure you have:
- The FanficAuthors story link
- A Windows, macOS, or Linux computer
- calibre installed on the computer
- Your Kindle and a USB connection
calibre is a free e-book manager. It can store EPUB files, edit their metadata and covers, convert books to formats such as AZW3, and send books to an e-reader connected by USB.
Step 1: Copy the FanficAuthors story link
Open the story on its FanficAuthors site and copy the URL from your browser. FanficAuthors stories are hosted on subdomains of fanficauthors.net. A story link looks like this:
https://jeconais.fanficauthors.net/A_Story_Name/Copy the main story URL. WP Downloader downloads the complete story from FanficAuthors, not individual chapters or story lists.
You do not need to sign in to FanficAuthors.
Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the FanficAuthors downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects the site and prepares the story for download.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and is a suitable starting format for calibre. You can also choose whether to include the story’s images.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI or AZW3 files. calibre can convert the downloaded EPUB to AZW3 before sending the book to your Kindle.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre on your computer and select Add books to import the EPUB you downloaded.
The story will appear in your calibre library. You can edit its metadata or cover before converting it, or continue straight to the conversion if everything looks right.
Keeping the original EPUB in calibre also lets you read it in calibre’s e-book viewer or convert it to another supported format later.
Step 4: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in calibre and choose the option to convert the book. Set AZW3 as the output format, then start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format that you can transfer over USB. calibre keeps the original EPUB in your library and adds the converted file alongside it.
Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB. Amazon’s Send to Kindle service stopped accepting MOBI, but this does not affect USB transfers. For this method, you can convert the EPUB directly to AZW3.
Step 5: Connect your Kindle over USB
Connect your Kindle to the computer. Once calibre recognizes it, select the converted story and use Send to device.
calibre will copy the book to your Kindle over USB. When the transfer finishes, disconnect the Kindle and open the story from its library for offline reading.

Read the story on your computer
You do not need a Kindle to read the downloaded story. Open the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer on your computer. The viewer also has a Read aloud feature.

Download new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB already stored in your calibre library. If the FanficAuthors story gets new chapters, paste its link into WP Downloader and download the complete story again.
