How to put Wolverine & Rogue stories on Kindle with calibre
You can put a story from the Wolverine & Rogue Fanfiction Archive on your Kindle without using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First, download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then use calibre to convert it to AZW3 and copy it to your Kindle over USB.
You will need a computer because calibre runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so the download step does not require any software installation.
What you need
Have these ready before you begin:

- A computer with calibre installed
- Your Kindle and a USB cable

Step 1: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the Wolverine & Rogue story downloader, then paste the story URL into the box. WP Downloader will detect the archive and prepare the story.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and the resulting file can be added to calibre. You can also choose whether to include images from the story.
For this archive, WP Downloader downloads complete stories. It does not support individual chapter downloads or story lists. The tool can retrieve only material that is available to read. It cannot bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions.
Save the finished EPUB somewhere easy to find, such as your Downloads folder. Support for this archive was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

Step 2: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select “Add books.” Find the downloaded EPUB and add it to your calibre library.
You can edit the story’s metadata or cover before transferring it. This is optional, so you can continue to the conversion if the book already looks right.
You can also check the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer. The viewer has a “Read aloud” feature if you want to listen to the story on your computer.
Step 3: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in your calibre library and choose the conversion option. Set AZW3 as the output format and start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format that you can transfer directly over USB. WP Downloader does not create AZW3 or MOBI files, so calibre handles the conversion.
calibre can also convert EPUB files to MOBI or PDF. For this method, use AZW3 for the Kindle copy and keep the original EPUB in your calibre library.
Step 4: Connect your Kindle over USB
Connect the Kindle to your computer with a USB cable. When calibre recognizes it, select the converted story and choose “Send to device.”
After calibre copies the book, disconnect the Kindle and look for the story in its library.
The file moves directly from your computer to the Kindle. You do not need to upload it to Amazon or use Send to Kindle.
USB transfer and Send to Kindle
Send to Kindle uploads files through Amazon’s service. A USB transfer copies a file directly from your computer to the e-reader, while calibre manages the conversion and transfer.
Kindles can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB. Amazon’s Send to Kindle service no longer accepts MOBI files, but that change does not affect compatible MOBI files transferred over USB. This guide uses AZW3.

Updating a story later
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. If the archive story changes, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy of the complete story.
Add the new EPUB to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and copy that version to your Kindle over USB.
