How to read an Ad Astra story on a PocketBook e-reader
To read an Ad Astra story on a PocketBook, download the complete work as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader. You can then send the file to your e-reader by email or copy it over USB. PocketBook supports both formats, though EPUB is usually better suited to an e-reader.
What you will need
Have these ready:
- The Ad Astra story page in your browser
- WP Downloader
- Your PocketBook e-reader
- An email account or USB cable
An Ad Astra story address looks like this:
https://www.adastrafanfic.com/works/123456 Copy the address of the work itself. WP Downloader downloads complete stories from Ad Astra, not individual chapters or lists.
Step 1: Download the Ad Astra story
Open the Ad Astra downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects the site from the address and downloads the whole story.
You can choose between:
- EPUB, which is free for everyone
- PDF, which requires a free Discord sign-in
You can also include the story’s images. Choose your options, start the download, and save the file somewhere easy to find.
If the author adds chapters later, return to the downloader and download the story again. WP Downloader does not add new chapters to an existing EPUB or PDF.
For more help with the download, see How to download Ad Astra stories.
Downloading a members-only story
Public Ad Astra stories do not require an account. For a members-only story, you can sign in with your Ad Astra account so WP Downloader can fetch content that the account is allowed to read.
Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you request. WP Downloader does not bypass membership restrictions, paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.
Support for Ad Astra and the other fiction archives available through WP Downloader was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
Step 2: Set up Send-to-PocketBook
Send-to-PocketBook gives your e-reader its own email address. On your PocketBook, open Settings, then Accounts and synchronization, followed by Send-to-PocketBook. Sign in and complete the activation process using the email you receive.
Once activated, the service gives you a personal address ending in @pbsync.com. If you have already set it up, use the address assigned to you before.
Step 3: Email the story to your PocketBook
Attach the EPUB or PDF to an email from your usual account and send it to your personal @pbsync.com address. Sync your PocketBook to receive the story.
If the file does not arrive, check whether your sending address is on the service’s approved list. Send-to-PocketBook may ask you to whitelist it. Once the address is approved, resend the attachment and sync the reader again.
Transfer the story over USB
You can also copy the file directly:
- Connect the PocketBook to your computer with a USB cable.
- Open the PocketBook’s storage.
- Copy the downloaded EPUB or PDF to the device.
- Disconnect the reader.
- Open the story on your PocketBook.
USB is also an option if you have not activated Send-to-PocketBook or the emailed file does not appear.
Reading updated chapters
WP Downloader creates a complete file each time you download a story. It does not update a copy already stored on your PocketBook.
When the story gains new chapters, paste its link into the downloader again and save a fresh EPUB or PDF. Transfer the new file with Send-to-PocketBook or USB.
