How to read an Archive of Our Own story on reMarkable
To read an Archive of Our Own story on a reMarkable tablet, download the work as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader and transfer the file through a reMarkable app, a web browser, or USB. WP Downloader is a free browser-based tool, so you do not need to install anything.
Download the AO3 story with WP Downloader
Open the AO3 downloader, then find the Archive of Our Own work you want to read in another browser tab. Its address should look like this:

Copy the work’s URL and paste it into the downloader. WP Downloader will detect the site and let you choose a format:
- EPUB is free for everyone and works on reMarkable tablets.
- PDF also works on reMarkable, but requires a free Discord sign-in.
You can choose whether to include the story’s images. reMarkable accepts EPUB and PDF files up to 100 MB, so check the finished file size if the work is particularly large.

Move the story to your reMarkable
After downloading the EPUB or PDF, transfer it with the reMarkable desktop or mobile app, a web browser, or a USB cable.
Use the reMarkable desktop or mobile app
Open the reMarkable app on your computer or phone and add the downloaded EPUB or PDF. Once the file is on your reMarkable, open it on the tablet to start reading.
Upload it from a web browser
You can also upload EPUB and PDF files to your reMarkable from a web browser. Select the file you downloaded from WP Downloader, upload it, and open it on the tablet.
The file must be no larger than 100 MB.
Transfer it over USB
To upload the story from a connected computer:
- Connect the reMarkable tablet to the computer with a USB cable.
- Turn on the USB web interface in the tablet’s storage settings.
- Open a browser on the connected computer.
- Enter this address:
10.11.99.1- Upload the EPUB or PDF through the interface.
The exact path to the USB web interface setting can vary between reMarkable software versions. Look for the USB web interface option in the tablet’s storage settings.
When the AO3 story gets new chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to a file you have already downloaded. When the author updates the work, return to the AO3 downloader, paste the story link again, and download a new copy.
Transfer the new file to your reMarkable with the same app, browser, or USB method.
