Choose a format and reading app

The format you need depends on the device and app you plan to use.

Phone or tablet

Choose EPUB if your reading app opens EPUB books. Choose PDF if you prefer fixed pages and have an app that opens PDF files. Creating a PDF with WP Downloader requires a free Discord sign-in.

Open the downloaded file in your reading app while you are still online. This checks that the download finished and that you can find and open the file.

Laptop

A story left open in a browser tab may not be available offline. Open the downloaded file before leaving so you know where it is saved.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Download the story as an EPUB or PDF, then send it to your Kindle before the flight. Amazon accepts EPUB and PDF files through the Send to Kindle app, on the web, or by email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address.

Amazon converts the EPUB and adds the book to your Kindle library. It can then appear on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app. Delivery needs an internet connection, so wait until the book appears on the device you are taking.

For email delivery, the sender’s address must be on your approved sender list. Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI files. Follow the Eros & Sappho Kindle guide before you travel.

Kobo

Download the story as an EPUB and follow the Eros & Sappho Kobo guide. Before leaving, open the book on your Kobo and check that it is available.

Test the book in airplane mode

Test the downloaded book before your flight:

Finish downloading or transferring the story.
Open it in the app or e-reader you plan to use.
Turn on airplane mode.
Close the story and open it again.
Move through a few parts of the book.

If the book does not open, turn airplane mode off, download or transfer it again, and repeat the test.

WP Downloader does not add new chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded. Download the whole story again before your trip if you want the latest available chapters.

Preflight checklist

Before leaving, check that:

You downloaded the whole story as an EPUB or PDF.
The file is on the phone, tablet, laptop, Kindle, or Kobo you are taking.
Your reading app can open the file.
Any Kindle delivery has finished and the book appears in your library.
The story opens after you turn on airplane mode.

Once the file passes these checks, you can open it during the flight without an internet connection.
