How to read FanficAuthors stories on a flight without Wi-Fi
Download the FanficAuthors story before your flight, save the EPUB or PDF on the device you plan to use, and check that it opens before you leave. Once the file is on your device, you can read it in airplane mode without an internet connection.

EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. For FanficAuthors, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories.
If the author adds more chapters later, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you already have.

Choose a format and device
Pick the device you plan to carry on the plane, then leave enough time to transfer and test the file before your flight.
Phone or tablet
Choose EPUB if your reading app can open EPUB files. Choose PDF if you use a PDF reader or prefer a fixed-page document.
Open the downloaded file in your reading app while you still have internet. Then close it, turn on airplane mode, and open it again. This checks that the story is stored on your device.
Kindle e-reader or Kindle app
Download the story as an EPUB or PDF and use Amazon’s Send to Kindle service before your flight. You can send the file through the Send to Kindle app, on the web, or by email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address.
Amazon converts EPUB files and adds the book to your Kindle library. The book can then appear on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app. Delivery requires an internet connection, so wait for it to arrive before leaving or boarding the plane.
When sending a file by email, the sending address must be on your approved sender list. Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI files. WP Downloader does not create MOBI or AZW3 files.

Kobo

Open the story on the Kobo before departure, then check that it still opens in airplane mode.
Laptop
You can also read on a laptop with an app that opens EPUB or PDF files. Save the file locally, open it once, and check that it still opens after you disconnect from Wi-Fi.
Check everything in airplane mode
The file must be available on the device and in the reading app you plan to use.
Before leaving home:
- Open the complete story.
- Check that you selected the correct EPUB or PDF file.
- Turn on airplane mode or disconnect from Wi-Fi.
- Close and reopen the story.
- If you use Kindle, wait for Send to Kindle to deliver the book and open it before disconnecting.
If the story does not open without internet, reconnect and finish the download or transfer. Checking early gives you time to fix the problem before your flight.
