How to Read Fiction.live Stories on a Kobo

To read a Fiction.live story on a Kobo e-reader, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file to your Kobo. You can transfer it by USB or, on certain Kobo models, through Dropbox or Google Drive.

Download the story as an EPUB

WP Downloader is a free web tool and requires no installation. It supports stories from fiction.live and beta.fiction.live without requiring a Fiction.live account.

A story link usually looks like this:

To download the story:

Open the Fiction.live downloader.
Paste the Fiction.live story link into the box.
Wait for WP Downloader to detect the site and process the story.
Choose EPUB as the output format.
Choose whether to include the story’s images.
Download the finished EPUB.

Kobo e-readers open EPUB files natively, so EPUB is the most convenient format for this guide. WP Downloader can also create a PDF, although that requires a free Discord sign-in. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

For Fiction.live, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories. If the author adds chapters later, download the story again to create a new EPUB. An existing EPUB cannot be updated.

Add the EPUB to your Kobo by USB

Once the EPUB is on your computer:

Connect the Kobo to the computer with a USB cable.
Wait for it to appear as a drive.
Copy the EPUB onto the Kobo drive.
Eject the Kobo.
Disconnect the cable.

The story will appear in your Kobo library, where you can open it like any other EPUB.

If the story gains new chapters, download it again and transfer the new file to your Kobo.

Transfer the file through Dropbox

Dropbox is available only on these Kobo models:

Kobo Forma
Kobo Sage
Kobo Elipsa
Kobo Elipsa 2E
Kobo Libra Colour

Your Kobo must be running software version 4.18 or later.

Link your Dropbox account from the Kobo, place the non-protected EPUB or PDF in the connected cloud folder, and sync the e-reader. The book will appear on that Kobo. Files added this way are available only on the device where you added them.

Transfer the file through Google Drive

Google Drive is available on the same Kobo models:

Your Kobo must be running software version 4.37 or later.

On the Kobo, go to Home, then More, then My Google Drive. Select Get Started. Enter the code shown on the e-reader on the Kobo website to link your account.

Put the non-protected EPUB or PDF in the Google Drive folder and sync the Kobo. The book will appear only on that device.

If your Kobo is not one of the supported models, transfer the EPUB by USB.

Choose between EPUB and PDF

EPUB is the simpler option for reading on a Kobo. The format opens natively and can be copied to the device by USB.

WP Downloader can also create a PDF after a free Discord sign-in. On supported Kobo models, you can transfer a non-protected PDF through Dropbox or Google Drive if the e-reader meets the software requirement for that service.

For most Fiction.live stories, the process is:
