How to Read FicWad Stories Offline on a Flight
Download the FicWad story before your flight, save it as an EPUB or PDF, and put the file on the device you plan to use. Once the file is stored on that device, you can read it without an internet connection.
Download the story before your flight
WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. While you are still online, open the FicWad downloader and copy the link for the story you want.
A FicWad story link looks like this:

- EPUB is free for everyone and works with ebook readers and apps that support EPUB files.
- PDF uses fixed pages and requires a free Discord sign-in.
WP Downloader downloads the whole FicWad story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories from FicWad. Its FicWad support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
You can sign in to FicWad if you need access to a members-only story. WP Downloader can only fetch content that your FicWad account can already read. It does not bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions, and it uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.

Put the file on your reading device
After the EPUB or PDF is stored on your device, you can open it without Wi-Fi. Make sure the file is available in the app or on the device you intend to use before leaving.
Phone or tablet
Open the EPUB in an app that supports EPUB files, or open the PDF in a PDF reader. Do this while you still have an internet connection so you can confirm that the file is stored locally and opens correctly.
The process is the same on a tablet. Use whichever device you prefer to read on during the flight.
Kindle e-reader or Kindle app
Download the EPUB or PDF, then send it to Kindle before your flight. Amazon accepts both formats through the Send to Kindle app, the Send to Kindle website, or email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address.
Amazon converts the EPUB and adds the book to your Kindle library. It can then appear on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app. Delivery requires an internet connection, so wait for the book to arrive before you travel.
If you use email, the sender address must be on your approved sender list. Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI files. WP Downloader does not create MOBI or AZW3 files, so use the EPUB instead.

Kobo
Download the FicWad story as an EPUB and transfer it to the Kobo you plan to carry.

Laptop
Use an app that supports EPUB or PDF files to open the downloaded story on your laptop. Check that the file opens before the flight.
Test it in airplane mode
Once the story is in your reading app or on your ebook reader, turn on airplane mode and open it. Check several chapters to make sure the whole story is available.
This test can catch a few problems before you leave:
- The file was downloaded but never opened in the reading app.
- The Kindle delivery has not finished.
- The file is stored on a different device.
- The downloaded copy does not include chapters added later.
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. If the FicWad story has changed, download the whole story again and transfer the new file before your flight.
Check before you leave
- Download the whole FicWad story while you have an internet connection.
- Choose EPUB or PDF, and include images if you want them.
