How to read Psychfic stories on a flight without Wi-Fi

Download the Psychfic story before your flight

You need an internet connection to download the story, so finish these steps before you board.

Open the Psychfic downloader.
Copy the Psychfic story URL from your browser. It should look like this:

Paste the link into WP Downloader.
Choose EPUB or PDF.
Choose whether to include the story’s images.
Download the file to the device you will use during the flight.

EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. Psychfic does not require an account, and WP Downloader is a web tool, so there is nothing to install.

For Psychfic, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not download single chapters or lists. If the author adds more chapters, download the story again. WPD cannot update an EPUB you already have.

Prepare your reading device

Save the file on the device you plan to bring, then open it before the flight. This confirms that the download finished and that your reading app can find the book.

Phone or tablet

Open an EPUB in an app that supports EPUB files or use a PDF reader for a PDF. Make sure the file has been downloaded or imported into the app. A story left open only in a browser tab may not be available without a connection.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Download the story as an EPUB or PDF, then use Amazon’s Send to Kindle service while you still have an internet connection. You can send the file by email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address, with the Send to Kindle app, or through the web service.

Amazon converts an EPUB and adds the book to your Kindle library. It can then appear on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app. Wait for the book to reach the device you are taking, then open it before the flight.

When sending by email, use an address on your approved sender list. WP Downloader does not produce MOBI files, and Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI.

Kobo

Download the Psychfic story as an EPUB and put it on the Kobo you will bring. Open the book before leaving to confirm that it is available on the device.

Save the EPUB or PDF locally and open it with an app that supports the format. Test the file before leaving so you know where it is and can open it without visiting the website again.

Test the story in airplane mode

After saving the story, turn on airplane mode and open it. Check that:

The story opens without Wi-Fi or mobile data.
You can move between chapters.
Any images you included appear.
The file is stored on the device you are bringing.
Any Kindle delivery has finished and the book opens on that device.

If something does not work, reconnect to the internet and download the story or transfer the file again. Test it once more in airplane mode afterward.
