How to Read Sheppard/Weir Stories on a Flight

Download the story before your flight

WP Downloader needs an internet connection to fetch the story and create the book.

1. Open the Sheppard/Weir story downloader.
2. Copy the story URL from sheppardweir.com. It should look like this:

3. Paste the link into WP Downloader.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF. EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Save the finished file to the device you will use during the flight.

WP Downloader downloads the whole story from this archive. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories.

Public stories do not require a Sheppard/Weir account. You can sign in with an account from that site to download members-only stories your account can read. WP Downloader does not bypass restricted access, and it uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.

Choose a format and reading device

Choose EPUB if your reading app or e-reader supports it. EPUB also works with Amazon’s Send to Kindle service.

Choose PDF if you use a PDF reader. Creating a PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. Amazon no longer accepts MOBI through Send to Kindle, but it does accept EPUB and PDF.

Phone or tablet

Save the EPUB or PDF to your phone or tablet and open it in an app that supports the format. Check the file before departure so you know where it is and which app opens it.

Once the file is stored on the device, you can open it without an internet connection.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Saving an EPUB to your phone or computer does not place it in your Kindle library. Use Amazon’s Send to Kindle service while you still have an internet connection.

You can send EPUB and PDF files by email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address, through the Send to Kindle app, or on the web. Files sent by email must come from an approved sender address. Amazon converts the EPUB and adds the book to your Kindle library, where it appears on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app.

Kobo

Download the EPUB before your flight and make sure it opens on the Kobo you plan to use. The Sheppard/Weir Kobo guide has the device-specific instructions.

Test the book in airplane mode

Check the downloaded book before you leave:

1. Open the story and confirm that it displays correctly.
2. Close the reading app.
3. Turn on airplane mode.
4. Reopen the app and load the story.
5. Check a few chapters to make sure the complete book is available offline.

If the story opens during the test, you can read it without in-flight Wi-Fi.

When an unfinished story gains new chapters, download it again. WP Downloader creates a new book and cannot update an existing EPUB.

Preflight checklist

• Download the whole story while you have internet access.
• Choose EPUB for a compatible reading app or PDF for a PDF reader.
• Include the story’s images if you want them in the book.
• Send the file to Kindle before the flight if you plan to read there.
• Open the book on the device you will use.
• Test it with airplane mode turned on.
