Read a SpaceBattles Story in KOReader

WP Downloader can turn a SpaceBattles thread into an EPUB containing its threadmarked chapters. Copy the EPUB to your device, then open it from KOReader’s file browser to read it offline.

Download the SpaceBattles story

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. It works with English-language story threads on forums.spacebattles.com and forum.spacebattles.com. You do not need a SpaceBattles account.

Copy the URL of the story thread you want to read. It should look similar to this:

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/some-story-name.123456/

Then:

1. Open the SpaceBattles downloader.
2. Paste the story thread URL into the box.
3. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
4. Download the story as an EPUB.

EPUB is free for everyone and opens directly in KOReader. WP Downloader can also create a PDF, but downloading that format requires a free Discord sign-in.

SpaceBattles stories are forum threads. WP Downloader uses the threadmarks to find the chapters and collect them in one book. It does not treat every discussion post as part of the story.

For SpaceBattles, WP Downloader downloads the entire story. It cannot download an individual chapter or a list, and it cannot add new chapters to an EPUB already on your device. When the author posts another chapter, download the story again to get a new copy with the latest available threadmarks.

Copy the EPUB to your device

Transfer the downloaded EPUB to the device where you use KOReader.

Kobo or PocketBook

Connect the e-reader to your computer with USB, then copy the EPUB onto the device as usual. Put it in a folder you can easily find from KOReader’s file browser.

Disconnect the device safely after the transfer finishes.

Android phone or tablet

Copy the EPUB to your Android device with your usual file-transfer method. If you downloaded it directly to the device, you can leave it where it is as long as you can find the folder in KOReader.

Kindle

KOReader runs on Kindles that have been jailbroken. Installing it on a Kindle is a separate, unofficial process, so these instructions assume it is already installed.

Copy the EPUB to the Kindle as you would any other document. To use the Kindle’s regular reading workflow instead, follow the guide to send a SpaceBattles story to Kindle.

Open the story in KOReader

Open KOReader and use its file browser to find the downloaded EPUB. Select the file to start reading.

The book contains the threadmarked chapters, so you can read without returning to the SpaceBattles thread or keeping several browser tabs open. The EPUB remains available offline.

KOReader opens EPUB and PDF files. EPUB is the simpler choice here because WP Downloader provides it free to everyone. If you chose to include the story’s images when downloading, they will appear in the book.

Get new chapters

WP Downloader cannot add chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. To get the latest available chapters:

1. Return to the SpaceBattles downloader.
2. Paste the same story thread URL again.
3. Download a new EPUB.
4. Copy the new file to your device and open it in KOReader.

Keep or remove the older copy as you prefer. The new file contains the complete story, not only the new chapters.
