How to read a Spirit Fanfics story in KOReader
To read a Spirit Fanfics story in KOReader, download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, copy the file to your device, and open it from KOReader’s file browser. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything to use it.
What you need
You will need:
- The link to a story on spiritfanfiction.com
- Access to WP Downloader in your browser
- A device that runs KOReader
- A way to copy the downloaded file to that device
KOReader is a free, open-source document reader for Kobo, PocketBook, and Android devices. It also runs on Kindles that have been jailbroken. Installing KOReader on Kobo or Kindle is a separate, unofficial process. This guide assumes it is already installed.
Step 1: Copy the Spirit Fanfics story link
Open the story on Spirit Fanfics and copy its address from your browser. A story URL looks like this:
https://www.spiritfanfiction.com/historia/story-name-1234Copy the address of the main story page, not an individual chapter. WP Downloader downloads complete Spirit Fanfics stories and does not support single chapters or story lists from this site.
Spirit Fanfics stories are in Portuguese. You do not need to sign in to Spirit Fanfics to download one.
Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the Spirit Fanfics downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects the source and prepares the story for download.
Choose EPUB for KOReader. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and KOReader can open the format directly. KOReader also opens PDF files, but downloading a PDF from WP Downloader requires a free Discord sign-in.
Select the option to include images if you want the story’s images in the book. When the file is ready, save it somewhere easy to find, such as your usual downloads folder.
The Spirit Fanfics download guide has more information about downloading the story.
Step 3: Copy the EPUB to your device
How you copy the file depends on your device.
Kobo or PocketBook
Connect the e-reader to your computer with USB and copy the EPUB to the device as usual. Once the transfer is complete, disconnect the device safely.
Put the book wherever you normally store reading files, and remember the location so you can find it in KOReader.
For instructions focused on Kobo, see how to read Spirit Fanfics stories on Kobo.
Android
Move the EPUB to a folder that KOReader can access. You can download it directly to the Android device or copy it using your usual Android file-transfer method.
Make a note of the folder containing the file.
Jailbroken Kindle
KOReader runs on jailbroken Kindles, but installing it is an unofficial process and is outside the scope of this guide. If KOReader is already installed, copy the EPUB to the Kindle as usual.
For the standard Kindle method, see how to send Spirit Fanfics stories to Kindle.
Step 4: Open the story in KOReader
Open KOReader and use its file browser to find the folder containing the EPUB. Select the file to open the story.
The book is stored on your device and can now be read offline. You can also keep the original download somewhere convenient if you plan to copy it to another device that runs KOReader.
Getting newly published chapters
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you have already downloaded. When the author publishes more chapters, return to the Spirit Fanfics downloader, paste the story link again, and download a new copy of the complete story.
Copy the new EPUB to your device and open it in KOReader.
