How to Read Stories of Arda Stories on a Kobo
To read a Stories of Arda story on a Kobo, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file to your e-reader. Kobo opens EPUB files without conversion or an additional reading app.
Download the story as an EPUB
WP Downloader is a free web tool, so there is nothing to install. You do not need to sign in to Stories of Arda.
Find the story on storiesofarda.com and copy the link to its main chapter-list page. Do not use a link to an individual chapter. The address should look like this:
http://www.storiesofarda.com/chapterlistview.asp?SID=1234 - Open the Stories of Arda downloader.
- Paste the story link into the box.
- Choose EPUB as the output format.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the EPUB to your device.
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can also create a PDF with a free Discord sign-in, but EPUB is the simplest format for a Kobo because the e-reader opens it natively.
WP Downloader downloads the entire Stories of Arda story. It does not support individual chapters or lists of stories from this site. If the author adds more chapters, download the story again to create a new EPUB with the latest available version. An EPUB already on your Kobo will not update automatically.
Stories of Arda support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
Add the EPUB with a USB cable
You can copy the EPUB from a computer to any Kobo with a USB cable.
- Find the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
- Connect the Kobo to your computer with a USB cable.
- Wait for the Kobo to appear as a drive.
- Open the Kobo drive.
- Copy the EPUB onto it.
- Eject the Kobo safely.
- Disconnect the cable.
The story will appear in the Kobo library. You can open it like any other EPUB and read it without an internet connection.
Add the EPUB through Dropbox
Dropbox can transfer non-protected EPUB and PDF files to these Kobo models:
- Kobo Forma
- Kobo Sage
- Kobo Elipsa
- Kobo Elipsa 2E
- Kobo Libra Colour
This option requires Kobo software version 4.18 or later. Link your Dropbox account from the e-reader, put the EPUB in the linked cloud folder, and sync the Kobo. The story will then appear in its library.
Books added through Dropbox appear only on the device where you added them. They are not automatically added to your other Kobo devices.
Add the EPUB through Google Drive
Google Drive is available on the same Kobo models:
- Kobo Forma
- Kobo Sage
- Kobo Elipsa
- Kobo Elipsa 2E
- Kobo Libra Colour
It requires Kobo software version 4.37 or later. On the Kobo, open Home, More, My Google Drive, and then Get Started. The Kobo will display a code. Enter it on the Kobo website to link your Google Drive account.
Put the EPUB in the linked cloud folder and sync the e-reader. The story will appear in the Kobo library when the transfer is complete. As with Dropbox, the book appears only on that device.
Read the story offline
Once the EPUB is on your Kobo, you can read it without returning to Stories of Arda or WP Downloader.
