How to Read TTHFanfic Stories Offline on a Flight

Download your Twisting the Hellmouth story before the flight while you still have an internet connection. Once the EPUB or PDF is saved on your device, you can read it without Wi-Fi or mobile data.

Download the story before your flight

WP Downloader is a free web tool, and there is nothing to install.

1. Find the story you want on tthfanfic.org.
2. Copy its story URL. It should look like this:

3. Open the Twisting the Hellmouth downloader.
4. Paste the story link into the box.
5. Choose EPUB or PDF. EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
6. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
7. Download the finished file to the device you will use on the flight.

WP Downloader downloads the entire story from Twisting the Hellmouth. It cannot download individual chapters or lists from this archive. Support for the site was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

You can sign in with your Twisting the Hellmouth account to download members-only stories that the account can already read. Signing in is optional. WP Downloader does not bypass access restrictions, and it uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.

Choose EPUB or PDF

EPUB works well for reading a story as an ebook. Open the file in an EPUB reader and check that the story appears in the app’s library.

Choose PDF if you prefer reading PDFs. Before the flight, make sure your PDF app can open the downloaded file without an internet connection.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. Kindle users do not need a MOBI file because Amazon’s Send to Kindle accepts EPUB and PDF files.

Prepare the story on your device

Phone or tablet

Download the EPUB or PDF to your phone or tablet, then open it in the reading app you plan to use. Do this while you still have an internet connection.

Turn on airplane mode and open the file again. This checks that the file is stored on your device and ready for offline reading.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Amazon’s Send to Kindle accepts EPUB and PDF files. You can send the file by email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address, with the Send to Kindle app, or through the Send to Kindle website. Amazon converts the EPUB, and the book appears in your Kindle library on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app.

Send to Kindle needs an internet connection to deliver the book, so send it before the flight. Open or download the book on the Kindle device or app you will use, then test it in airplane mode. If you send it by email, the sender’s address must be approved for your Kindle address.

Kobo

Download the EPUB before your trip and make sure it is available on the Kobo you are taking. Open the book, disconnect the device from Wi-Fi or switch on airplane mode, and check that you can move between chapters.

Laptop

Save the EPUB or PDF on your laptop and open it in a compatible reading app. A story left open in a browser tab may need an internet connection to load again, so test the downloaded file after turning off Wi-Fi.

Check everything in airplane mode

Before leaving, check that:

• The complete EPUB or PDF has finished downloading.
• The file opens in the app or on the device you will use during the flight.
• Any book sent to Kindle has finished delivering.
• The story still opens after you turn on airplane mode or disable Wi-Fi.
• You can close and reopen the story and move between chapters.
