Tracking Fanfics.me Stories on Goodreads or The StoryGraph
You can track a Fanfics.me story on Goodreads or The StoryGraph even if it is missing from their databases. Download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, then search for its title and author in the service you use. Goodreads has a form for adding missing books. The StoryGraph does not provide clear official instructions for works that are not books, so check its current help pages instead.
Download the Fanfics.me story
WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. Its support for Fanfics.me was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
- Open the Fanfics.me downloader.
- Copy the story’s Fanfics.me URL. It should look like this:
https://fanfics.me/fic1234- Paste the URL into WP Downloader.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the story as an EPUB.
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. You can also download a PDF after signing in with Discord for free. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
You do not need to sign in to Fanfics.me for public stories. Signing in with your Fanfics.me account lets WP Downloader fetch members-only stories that your account can read. It cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.
WP Downloader downloads complete Fanfics.me stories, not individual chapters or lists. To get chapters added after your download, download the story again. WPD cannot update an existing EPUB. The Fanfics.me download guide has more information.
Track the story on Goodreads
Most fanfiction and web serials are absent from the Goodreads database. Search for the story’s title and author first. If you find the correct entry, use it to track your reading.
If the story is missing, eligible Goodreads members can add it at goodreads.com/book/new. The account must have a verified email and cannot be brand new.
The form requires at least:
- The story title
- The author’s name
Enter the title and author shown on the Fanfics.me story page. Before adding a record, also check for alternate spellings or another entry for the same work.
Goodreads librarians handle edits and merge duplicate records. Adding a record does not upload the EPUB to Goodreads or make Goodreads an EPUB reader. Keep the file in your usual reading app and use Goodreads as a separate reading log.
Track the story on The StoryGraph
Search The StoryGraph for the title and author. Its database may contain the work, although fanfiction and web serials are often missing.
The StoryGraph does not publish clear official instructions for adding works that are not books. If you cannot find the story, check its current help pages for the options available to your account. Do not rely on unofficial instructions to create a record.
If you find a matching entry, you can track it on The StoryGraph while keeping the EPUB on your phone, computer, or e-reader.
Keep a private library with calibre
If neither service lists the story, you can keep your own reading library in calibre. Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
After installing calibre:
- Select “Add books” and choose the EPUB from WP Downloader.
- Edit the book’s metadata or cover if needed.
- Read it in calibre’s e-book viewer or send it to a connected e-reader over USB.
- Keep the EPUB in your calibre library as a personal record of the story.
The e-book viewer includes a Read aloud feature. Calibre can also convert the EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF if your device needs another format.
For instructions for specific e-readers, see how to send a Fanfics.me story to Kindle or read a Fanfics.me story on Kobo.
