How to track SpaceBattles stories on Goodreads or StoryGraph

You can track SpaceBattles stories on Goodreads or The StoryGraph, though many fanfiction works and web serials are missing from their databases. Downloading the story as an EPUB first also gives you a copy to read offline or organize in calibre.

Download the SpaceBattles story first

SpaceBattles stories are published as forum threads. WP Downloader collects a thread’s threadmarked chapters and combines them into one book.

A SpaceBattles story link looks like this:

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/some-story-name.123456/

To download the story:

  1. Open the SpaceBattles downloader.
  2. Paste the story thread URL into the box.
  3. Wait for WP Downloader to detect the site and collect the threadmarked chapters.
  4. Choose EPUB, which is free for everyone.
  5. Turn on the image option if you want to include the story’s images.
  6. Download the finished book to your device.

You do not need a SpaceBattles account. WP Downloader downloads the whole story, not individual chapters or lists. When the author posts more chapters, download the story again because WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB.

You can also choose PDF after signing in with a free Discord account. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

See how to download a SpaceBattles story for a more detailed walkthrough.

Track the story on Goodreads

Search Goodreads for the story title and author before adding a new entry. Most fanfiction and web serials are not in its database, but searching first can help you avoid a duplicate.

If the story is already listed, use that entry to track your reading. If it is missing, eligible Goodreads members can add it manually at goodreads.com/book/new. Your account must have a verified email and cannot be brand new.

Goodreads requires at least:

  • The story title
  • The author’s name

Check these details against the SpaceBattles thread before submitting the entry. Goodreads librarians handle later edits and merge duplicate records.

Check for the story on The StoryGraph

Search The StoryGraph by title and author. If the story is listed, you can use its entry to track your reading.

The StoryGraph may not have the story in its database. It does not publish clear official instructions for adding works that are not books, so check its current help pages if the story is missing.

Keep a personal SpaceBattles library with calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It lets you maintain your own reading list, including stories that Goodreads or The StoryGraph does not list.

After downloading a story with WP Downloader:

  1. Open calibre on your computer.
  2. Select Add books.
  3. Choose the downloaded EPUB.
  4. Review or edit its title, author, metadata, and cover.
  5. Open it in calibre’s e-book viewer or send it to a connected e-reader over USB.

The e-book viewer has a Read aloud feature. calibre can also convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.

When a SpaceBattles story gets new threadmarked chapters, download it again with WP Downloader and add the new file to your calibre library.

For a dedicated e-reader, see the guides to sending SpaceBattles stories to Kindle or reading SpaceBattles stories on Kobo.
