How to Add Whofic Stories to calibre
To add a story from A Teaspoon And An Open Mind, also known as Whofic, to calibre, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and import the file using calibre’s Add books button. You can then organize the story, edit its metadata and cover, convert it to another format, read it on your computer, or transfer it to an e-reader.
Download the Whofic story as an EPUB

Open the Whofic downloader and copy the link to the story you want. A Whofic story URL looks like this:

Add the EPUB to calibre
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Open calibre and select Add books.
- Find the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
- Select the file and add it to your library.
- Find the imported story in your calibre book list.
You can keep the EPUB in your library as an offline copy, open it in calibre’s e-book viewer, or prepare it for another reading device.
If you downloaded the file on your phone, move it to the computer where calibre is installed before using Add books.
Organize the story in your library
After importing the story, review its library entry. calibre lets you edit its metadata and cover, which can make stories easier to find when your library contains books from several archives.
You can use a consistent style for author names and organize related stories in whatever way suits your library. You can also edit or replace the cover to change how the book appears in calibre.
These changes apply only to the copy in calibre. They do not affect the original story on whofic.com.
Read the Whofic story in calibre
Open the imported EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it on your computer. Since the story is saved locally, you can read that copy offline.
The viewer also has a Read aloud feature, so you can listen to the story on your computer without converting the EPUB to another format first.
Convert the story for another device
WP Downloader creates EPUB and PDF files. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
If your device or reading app needs another e-book format, calibre can convert the imported EPUB. For example, it can convert EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. Keeping the original EPUB in your library gives you a source file to use for later conversions.

Send the book to a connected e-reader
calibre can send books to an e-reader connected to your computer over USB. Connect the device, wait for calibre to recognize it, select the Whofic story, and use the option to send the book to the device.

Update a story when new chapters appear

Add the new EPUB to calibre, then decide whether to keep or remove the older copy. Check the library entry after importing so you can tell the two versions apart.
