How to back up Ashwinder stories

Authors and sites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. You can keep a personal copy of an Ashwinder story by downloading it as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader. The file is a snapshot of the story at the time of the download and can be stored on your phone, computer, or e-reader for offline reading.

Download an Ashwinder story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything. It downloads complete Ashwinder stories, not individual chapters or lists.

Open the Ashwinder downloader.
Copy the Ashwinder story URL from your browser. It should look like this:

Paste the URL into WP Downloader.
Choose whether to include the story’s images.
Download the story as an EPUB. EPUB is free for everyone.
To download a PDF, sign in with Discord for free and select PDF.

You can also paste the link into the box on the WP Downloader home page. WPD will recognize it as an Ashwinder story.

You do not need to sign in to Ashwinder for public stories. Signing in with your Ashwinder account lets WP Downloader fetch members-only stories that the account can read. Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested. WP Downloader cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.

Store your backup

Once the download finishes, find the EPUB or PDF in your device’s downloads. Rename it if needed, then move it to a folder for your personal story copies.

You could organize the folder like this:

Keep the original file if you import another copy into a reading app or transfer it to an e-reader. You will still have the original if you accidentally remove the other copy.

Downloaded stories are for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.

Read the story on a phone or tablet

Open the downloaded EPUB in an app that supports EPUB files. If you downloaded a PDF, use a PDF reader. After storing the file on the device or importing it into the app, you can read it offline.

If the file does not open when the download finishes, find it in your device’s downloads and choose a compatible reading app. Keep another copy outside the reading app as part of your personal files.

Organize Ashwinder stories with calibre

Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You can use it to store EPUB files in a library, edit their metadata and covers, and read them in its e-book viewer.

To add an Ashwinder story:

Open calibre on your computer.
Select Add books.
Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
Check the title, author, and other metadata.
Open the book in calibre’s e-book viewer when you want to read it.

The viewer also has a Read aloud feature.

Calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. WP Downloader produces EPUB and PDF files, but it does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Copy the story to an e-reader

Add the EPUB to calibre, connect your e-reader to the computer over USB, and use calibre to send the book to the connected device.

Keep the original EPUB in your backup collection after transferring it. You can use that copy if you replace or reset the e-reader.

Download the story again when it changes

An EPUB or PDF from WP Downloader stays as it was when you downloaded it. It does not update when an author edits the story or adds chapters.

Paste the Ashwinder link into WP Downloader again to get the newer version. WPD cannot add chapters to an existing EPUB. You can keep both snapshots or replace the older file.

Can WP Downloader back up one Ashwinder chapter?

No. For Ashwinder, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not download single chapters or lists.

Does an Ashwinder EPUB update when new chapters appear?

No. Download the story again to get later chapters or edits. Each file is a snapshot of the story when it was downloaded.

Do I need an Ashwinder account?

Not for public stories. You can sign in to reach members-only stories that your Ashwinder account is allowed to read.

Which backup format should I choose?

EPUB is free for everyone and works with calibre and EPUB readers. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. WP Downloader does not produce MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
