How to Back Up SciFiStories Stories
Authors and sites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. To keep a personal copy of a SciFiStories story, download it with WP Downloader and save the resulting EPUB or PDF. The file is a snapshot of the story at the time of the download.
Download the SciFiStories story
WP Downloader is a free web tool that requires no installation. For SciFiStories, it downloads the whole story. Single chapters and lists are not supported.
You need an account on scifistories.com. WP Downloader can retrieve only stories that your account is allowed to read. It does not bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions.
- Open the story on SciFiStories and copy its URL. It should look like this:

Paste the story link into the box.
Sign in with your SciFiStories account when prompted.
Choose whether to include the story’s images.
Download the story as an EPUB. EPUB is free for everyone. PDF is also available with a free Discord sign-in.

Save the file as a personal backup
Keep the EPUB or PDF somewhere you can find it again. A folder for saved stories can help separate these files from other downloads.
The file contains the version that was available when you downloaded it. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. If the author publishes another chapter or revises the story, paste the link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
If you want to preserve the version you first read, keep both files. Adding the download date to each filename can make the versions easier to identify.
Keep downloaded stories for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.
Read the backup on a phone or tablet
Store the EPUB on your device and open it in an app that supports EPUB files. If you downloaded a PDF, use a PDF reader.
A local copy lets you read without returning to the story page. You can also keep reading if the online version is later edited, unpublished, or deleted.
The file will not update on its own. Download the story again whenever you want a newer copy.
Organize and read the story with calibre
Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It can help you manage a larger collection of saved stories.
After downloading the EPUB:
- Open calibre and select “Add books.”
- Choose the SciFiStories EPUB you downloaded.
- Edit the metadata or cover if needed.
- Open the book in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it on your computer.
The viewer also has a “Read aloud” feature for listening to the saved story.
Calibre can convert EPUB files to other formats, including AZW3, MOBI, and PDF. WP Downloader does not create AZW3, MOBI, or TXT files, so use calibre if you need one of its supported conversion formats.
You can also connect an e-reader to your computer by USB and send the book to it with calibre.
Move the story to an e-reader
