How to Back Up SquidgeWorld Stories
Authors and sites can revise, unpublish, or delete stories. Saving a personal EPUB gives you a copy of the story as it appeared when you downloaded it. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so there is nothing to install.
Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the story on squidgeworld.org and copy its URL. A work link looks like this:
https://squidgeworld.org/works/123456Open the SquidgeWorld downloader, paste the link into the box, and WP Downloader will detect the site.
Choose EPUB to download the story for free. You can include the story’s images if you want them in the book. PDF is also available with a free Discord sign-in.
WP Downloader saves the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list from SquidgeWorld Archive.
You do not need an account for public stories. For members-only stories, you can sign in with your SquidgeWorld Archive account. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested and can download only what your account is allowed to read. It does not bypass locked content, account requirements, or age restrictions.

Download the story again after updates
An EPUB is a snapshot of the story at the time you downloaded it. The file will not gain new chapters or reflect later edits automatically.
Download the story again whenever you want a newer copy. You can keep the earlier EPUB as a separate snapshot or replace it with the new one.
Keep downloaded stories for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.
Keep the EPUB with your other books
After downloading the EPUB, add it to an e-book reading app that supports the format. If you later download another copy, check the filename so you know which version you are opening.
Organize the story with calibre
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You can use it to keep downloaded stories in one library.
To add the story:
- Download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader.
- Open calibre and choose Add books.
- Select the downloaded EPUB.
- Edit the title, author, other metadata, or cover if needed.
- Open the book in calibre’s e-book viewer.
The viewer has a Read aloud feature for listening to the story.
calibre can convert EPUB files to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, and PDF. WP Downloader does not create AZW3, MOBI, or TXT files, so you can use calibre when your e-reader needs another format.

Set up a simple routine
Download a story when you decide to keep it, then add the EPUB to your usual reading library. For an unfinished story, download it again whenever you want the latest chapters.
WP Downloader creates a new EPUB instead of updating the existing file. Keep the old copy if you want both versions, or replace it if you only need the latest one.
FAQ
Can WP Downloader save one SquidgeWorld chapter?
No. For SquidgeWorld Archive, WP Downloader downloads whole stories only. It does not download individual chapters or lists.
Will my EPUB receive new chapters automatically?
No. The EPUB contains the story as it appeared when you downloaded it. Download the story again to get later chapters or revisions.
Do I need a SquidgeWorld Archive account?
You do not need an account for public stories. Signing in lets WP Downloader access members-only stories that your account can already read.
Can I save the story as MOBI or AZW3?
WP Downloader offers EPUB and PDF, not MOBI or AZW3. You can add the EPUB to calibre and convert it to another supported format.
Is it okay to share my backup copy?
No. Keep the downloaded file for your own reading. Do not re-upload it or share it with other people.
