Do GoodNovel Stories Count Toward Reading Goals in Apple Books?

You can read a downloaded GoodNovel story in Apple Books. PDFs count toward Reading Goals when Include PDFs is enabled. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count, so you will need to test the story and check whether today’s reading time changes.

Download a GoodNovel story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool, with nothing to install. Open the GoodNovel downloader and paste the story’s goodnovel.com link into the box.

A GoodNovel story link looks like this:

https://www.goodnovel.com/book/Seducing-My-Ex-s-Father-In-Law_31000825294

WP Downloader handles whole stories from GoodNovel, not individual chapters or reading lists. You do not need to sign in to GoodNovel.

Choose a format:

• EPUB is free for everyone and opens in Apple Books.
• PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
• You can include the story’s images if you want them in the file.

The download includes only free chapters. WP Downloader does not buy or unlock paid chapters or bypass their restrictions. If more free chapters become available later, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB.

For more detailed instructions, see the GoodNovel download guide.

Add the story to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. After you import the story, it appears in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

1. Open the downloaded file from the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
2. Tap Share.
3. Choose Books.
4. Wait for Apple Books to open the file.
5. Find the story in your Library.

An EPUB opens as a book. You can also keep a PDF in the Books app, although PDF reading counts toward Reading Goals only when Include PDFs is enabled.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the EPUB.

The imported story will appear in your Apple Books Library.

How Reading Goals work in Apple Books

Reading Goals track how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year.

The daily goal is five minutes by default. On an iPhone or iPad, you can change it from the Reading Now tab. On a Mac, you can find and change it from Home.

Seeing a GoodNovel story in your Library does not tell you whether Apple Books will count the time you spend reading it. Open the story and read it in Apple Books to check.

Check whether an imported GoodNovel EPUB counts

Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. You can test an imported GoodNovel EPUB on your device:

1. Note today’s reading time in Apple Books.
2. Open the imported EPUB.
3. Read for a minute or two.
4. Return to Reading Now on your iPhone or iPad, or Home on your Mac.
5. See whether today’s reading time increased.

If the time goes up, Apple Books is counting the reading on that device. If it does not, the imported EPUB may not be contributing to the daily goal.

Make a GoodNovel PDF count toward Reading Goals

Apple Books counts PDF reading only when Include PDFs is enabled.

On current iOS versions:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Tap Books.
4. Turn on Include PDFs.

On older iOS versions, open Settings, tap Books, and turn on Include PDFs.

Once the setting is enabled, open the GoodNovel PDF in Apple Books and read for a minute or two. Then check your daily reading time to confirm that it was recorded.

Read the story on another device

You can also send GoodNovel stories to Kindle or read GoodNovel stories on Kobo.
