Use Apple Books Reading Goals with Inkitt Stories

Apple Books can open Inkitt stories downloaded as EPUB or PDF files. PDFs count toward Reading Goals when Include PDFs is enabled. Apple does not document whether EPUB files you import yourself count, but you can check by reading for a minute or two and watching your daily reading time.

Download an Inkitt story with WP Downloader

Open the Inkitt downloader. WP Downloader is a free web tool, and you do not need to install anything.

1. Copy the Inkitt story URL. It should look like this:

   https://www.inkitt.com/stories/202117

2. Paste the URL into WP Downloader.

3. Sign in with your Inkitt email address and password when prompted.

4. Choose EPUB or PDF.

5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.

6. Download the file.

You must sign in with an Inkitt account. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested, and it can download only the content your account can already read. It does not bypass locked chapters, paywalls, or age restrictions.

The Inkitt downloader saves whole stories, not individual chapters. EPUB is free for everyone, while PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. If the author adds more chapters later, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB.

Add the story to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Imported files appear in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

1. Find the EPUB or PDF in the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
2. Open the file or its sharing menu.
3. Tap Share.
4. Choose Books.

The file will appear in your Apple Books Library.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the downloaded file.

How Apple Books Reading Goals work

Reading Goals track how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year.

The daily goal is five minutes by default. You can change it from the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or from Home on a Mac.

Apple Books handles this tracking. WP Downloader creates the EPUB or PDF, but Apple Books decides whether reading the imported file affects your goals.

Do imported Inkitt EPUB files count?

Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. Check the result on your device:

1. Open Apple Books and note today’s reading time.
2. Open the imported Inkitt EPUB from your Library.
3. Read for one or two minutes.
4. Return to Reading Now on an iPhone or iPad, or Home on a Mac.
5. See whether today’s reading time increased.

An increase means Apple Books counted that reading on your device. If the time does not change, importing the same story again is unlikely to answer the question because Apple does not document how Reading Goals handle imported EPUB files.

Make an Inkitt PDF count toward Reading Goals

Reading a PDF counts toward your goal only when Include PDFs is turned on.

On current versions of iOS, open Settings, then Apps, then Books, and enable Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books, and enable Include PDFs there.

Open the imported Inkitt PDF from your Apple Books Library. To check that it counts, note the current daily time, read for a minute or two, and see whether the total increases.

Can Apple Books open an Inkitt story downloaded as EPUB?

Do I need an Inkitt account to download a story?

Can WP Downloader add new Inkitt chapters to my existing EPUB?

No. Download the whole story again to create a new file with the chapters currently available to your account.
