On iPhone or iPad

Check whether an imported EPUB counts

After adding the EPUB:

1. Check today’s reading time in Apple Books.
2. Open the imported MTT Just Once story.
3. Read for a minute or two.
4. Return to your Reading Goals.
5. Check whether today’s reading time increased.

If the total goes up, Apple Books is counting the reading activity on your device. If it stays the same, do not assume that time spent reading the imported EPUB is contributing to the goal.

Make a PDF count toward your goal

PDFs count toward the reading goal only when Include PDFs is turned on.

On current versions of iOS, open Settings, choose Apps, then Books, and enable Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books.

Once the setting is enabled, open the downloaded PDF in Apple Books and read as usual. To confirm that the time is being recorded, note today’s reading time, read for a minute or two, then check the total again.
