How to Track TONFA Reading in Apple Books Reading Goals

You can download a TONFA story as an EPUB or PDF and read it offline in Apple Books on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. PDFs can count toward your Reading Goals when Include PDFs is enabled. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count, so you will need to check your daily reading time after opening one.

Download a TONFA story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. Open the TONFA downloader and paste the story URL into the box.

A TONFA story URL looks like this:

For TONFA: The Original Naruto Fanfic Archive, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a story list.

Choose a format:

• EPUB is free for everyone and works in Apple Books.
• PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. To count time spent reading a PDF toward your goal, enable Include PDFs in the Books settings.
• You can also include the story’s images in the downloaded book.

TONFA stories are in English. If a story is available only to members, you can sign in with your narutofic.org account. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested and can download only what your account is allowed to read. It does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.

TONFA support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader licensed under Apache-2.0.

Download the story again if new chapters are published. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB already in your Apple Books Library.

Add the story to Apple Books

On iPhone or iPad

After the download finishes:

1. Open the EPUB or PDF from Safari’s downloads or the Files app.
2. Tap Share.
3. Choose Books.

The imported story will appear in your Apple Books Library. Open it there to start reading.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the file.

The imported story will appear in your Library.

How Apple Books Reading Goals work

Apple Books tracks how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year.

The daily goal is five minutes by default. You can change it from the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or from Home on a Mac.

Adding a TONFA story to your Library does not confirm that Apple Books is adding the time spent reading it to your daily total. PDFs require a setting to be enabled, while Apple’s documentation does not explain how imported EPUB files are handled.

Count a TONFA PDF toward your goal

Apple Books counts PDFs toward Reading Goals only when Include PDFs is turned on.

On a current version of iOS:

1. Open Settings.
2. Choose Apps.
3. Choose Books.
4. Turn on Include PDFs.

On an older version of iOS, open Settings, choose Books, and turn on Include PDFs.

You can then return to Apple Books and read the imported TONFA PDF.

Check whether an imported EPUB counts

Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. Check on your device:

1. Note today’s current reading time.
2. Open the imported TONFA EPUB in Apple Books.
3. Read for a minute or two.
4. Return to Reading Goals.
5. Check whether today’s reading time increased.

If the time goes up, Apple Books is counting that imported EPUB on your device. If it stays the same, the reading session was not added to the displayed daily total.

No. WP Downloader downloads whole TONFA stories, not individual chapters or lists.

Can I read the downloaded story without internet access?
