How to download Kakuyomu stories as EPUB or PDF

WP Downloader is a free web tool that downloads Kakuyomu stories as EPUB or PDF files. There is nothing to install. Paste a story link, choose a format, and download the file.

Download a Kakuyomu story

Open the story on kakuyomu.jp.
Copy its URL from your browser’s address bar.
Go to the Kakuyomu downloader.
Paste the story URL into the download box.
Choose EPUB or PDF.
Choose whether to include the story’s images.
Start the download.

WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single Kakuyomu chapter or a list of stories.

To get chapters added after your download, download the story again. WP Downloader creates a new file and does not update an existing EPUB.

Which Kakuyomu URL should you paste?

Copy the URL for the story’s main page. Kakuyomu story links use this pattern:

https://kakuyomu.jp/works/12341234123412341234

Paste the complete link, including the work number. You can paste it on the WP Downloader home page or the dedicated Kakuyomu download page. WP Downloader will detect that the link is from Kakuyomu.

Kakuyomu stories are in Japanese. WP Downloader downloads the original story text without translating it.

Do you need to sign in?

You do not need a Kakuyomu account to download a story.

EPUB is free for everyone and does not require sign-in. PDF is also free, but you must sign in with Discord to create one.

WP Downloader only downloads content you can already read. It does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions. Kakuyomu downloads do not require account credentials.

Support for Kakuyomu and the other archive sites was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

Choose EPUB or PDF

Choose PDF if you want to use a PDF reader. Creating a PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.

You can include the story’s images with either format. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Can WP Downloader download one Kakuyomu chapter?

No. WP Downloader downloads whole Kakuyomu stories. It does not support single chapters or story lists from this site.

Is Kakuyomu sign-in required?

No. You can download a Kakuyomu story without signing in to a Kakuyomu account.

Why does PDF ask me to sign in?
