How to read Kakuyomu stories offline
To read a Kakuyomu story offline, download the whole story with WP Downloader and save it as an EPUB or PDF. You can then open the file on your phone, tablet, e-reader, or computer without returning to the Kakuyomu website.
Download the Kakuyomu story
WP Downloader is a free web tool, and you do not need to install anything or sign in to Kakuyomu.
Copy the address of the story you want to read. A Kakuyomu story link looks like this:

- Open the Kakuyomu Downloader.
- Paste the story link into the box.
- Choose EPUB or PDF.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the file.
EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. WP Downloader downloads the whole story, so you cannot use it to download a single chapter or a list from Kakuyomu.

Read offline on a phone
Download the EPUB or PDF to your phone, then find the file in your downloads or files area. Open an EPUB with an EPUB-compatible reading app or a PDF with a PDF reader.
Once the file is saved on your phone, you can read the Japanese story without loading its chapters from kakuyomu.jp.
Read offline on a tablet
The steps are similar on a tablet:
- Download the story as an EPUB or PDF.
- Find the downloaded file.
- Open or import it into a compatible reading app.
- Check that the story opens before going offline.
Read on an e-reader
Download the EPUB first, then transfer it using a method supported by your e-reader.

Get newly published chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded. If the author publishes more chapters, paste the story link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy of the whole story.
