How to listen to Stories of Arda stories with text-to-speech
To listen to a Stories of Arda story, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and open the file in a reading app with text-to-speech.
Download the Stories of Arda story

- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the file.
You do not need to sign in to Stories of Arda. For this archive, WP Downloader downloads whole stories rather than individual chapters or lists. If the author adds more chapters, download the story again to create a new EPUB with the latest available version.

Listen on an iPhone or iPad
Apple Books opens EPUB files, and iPhones and iPads have a feature called Speak Screen.
To turn it on:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Accessibility.
- Choose Spoken Content.
- Turn on Speak Screen.
Open the downloaded EPUB in Apple Books. Swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen when you want Speak Screen to read the page aloud.
Speak Screen uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your device, so the narration will sound different depending on which voices you have installed.
Listen on Android
You can use Android’s Select to Speak feature or an EPUB reader with its own read-aloud mode.
Use Select to Speak
Turn on Select to Speak under Accessibility in Settings. You can then tap items on the screen to hear them read aloud.
Use Moon+ Reader
Moon+ Reader opens EPUB files and has a built-in text-to-speech mode. Open the Stories of Arda EPUB in the app and select its read-aloud option.
Use @Voice Aloud Reader
@Voice Aloud Reader also reads EPUB files aloud. Open or import the downloaded story, then start the app’s reading mode.
Both apps use the text-to-speech voices installed on your Android device. Changing those voices will change how the narration sounds.
Listen on Windows, macOS, or Linux
Thorium Reader and calibre can read EPUB files aloud on a desktop or laptop.
Use Thorium Reader
Thorium Reader is free and works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Add the downloaded EPUB, open it, and use the read-aloud feature.
Use calibre
calibre is another free desktop option. Add the EPUB to calibre, open it in the e-book viewer, and select Read aloud.
Both programs use the text-to-speech voices installed on your device.
Tips for managing the EPUB
Keep the original EPUB somewhere easy to find in case you want to open it in another compatible app or move it to a different device.
WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB. If the author adds chapters, return to the Stories of Arda downloader and download the whole story again.
