Put a Chireads Story on Kindle with Calibre
You can put a Chireads story on a Kindle without Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First download the story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then use calibre to convert it to AZW3 and transfer it to your Kindle over USB.
What you need
Before you begin, you will need:
- The Chireads story link
- A computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux
- calibre installed on the computer
- Your Kindle and its USB cable
WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything for the download. calibre is a free e-book manager that can organize books, edit their metadata and covers, convert them to other formats, and send them to a connected e-reader.
Step 1: Copy the Chireads story link
Open the story on chireads.com and copy its address from your browser. Chireads story URLs follow this general pattern:
https://chireads.com/category/translatedtales/story-nameCopy the page for the complete story instead of an individual chapter. Chireads stories are in French, and WP Downloader downloads complete stories from this site. It does not download single chapters or lists.
You do not need to sign in to Chireads.
Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Go to the Chireads downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader will recognize the Chireads link and prepare the story.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and gives calibre a file it can convert. You can also choose whether to include the story’s images.
WP Downloader does not create AZW3 or MOBI files. calibre can convert the downloaded EPUB to a Kindle format before sending it to the device over USB.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books. Find the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader and add it to your calibre library.
The story will appear in your book list. You can edit its metadata or cover before converting it, though this is optional.
You can also check the EPUB by opening it in calibre’s e-book viewer. The viewer has a Read aloud feature for listening on your computer.
Step 4: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the Chireads story in your calibre library and choose the option to convert it. Set AZW3 as the output format and start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format that you can transfer directly to a Kindle over USB. calibre can also convert an EPUB to MOBI or PDF, but this guide uses AZW3.
Amazon’s Send to Kindle service no longer accepts MOBI files. Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB.
Step 5: Connect your Kindle over USB
Connect the Kindle to your computer with its USB cable. When calibre recognizes the device, select the converted story and choose Send to device.
After the transfer finishes, the Chireads story will be available on your Kindle for offline reading. You do not need to upload it through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service.
Downloading new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. When the story is updated, download the complete story again, add the new EPUB to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and transfer the new version to your Kindle.

Can WP Downloader make an AZW3 file?
No. WP Downloader creates EPUB files for everyone and PDF files with a free Discord sign-in. It does not create AZW3, MOBI, or TXT files. Use calibre to convert the downloaded EPUB to AZW3.
Do I need a Chireads account?
No. You do not need to sign in. Paste the story link into the Chireads downloader to start the download.
Can I download only one Chireads chapter?
No. WP Downloader downloads complete Chireads stories. It does not download individual chapters or story lists from this site.
