How to read a Chireads story on Kobo
Kobo e-readers open EPUB files without conversion. You can use WP Downloader to save a Chireads story as an EPUB, then transfer the file to your Kobo.
Download the Chireads story as an EPUB
WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything. Open the Chireads downloader and copy the link to the story you want from chireads.com.
A Chireads story address looks like this:
https://chireads.com/category/translatedtales/story-name Paste the link into WP Downloader and start the download. The tool recognizes the Chireads link and prepares the whole story.
Select EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images.
WP Downloader downloads whole Chireads stories. It does not support individual chapters or lists from this site. You do not need a Chireads account, and the stories are in French.

Transfer the EPUB by USB
USB works with Kobo e-readers and requires a computer.
- Download the Chireads story as an EPUB on your computer.
- Connect your Kobo to the computer with a USB cable.
- Wait for the Kobo to appear as a drive.
- Open the Kobo drive and copy the EPUB onto it.
- Eject the Kobo.
- Disconnect the USB cable.
The story will appear in your Kobo library. You can open it like any other book and read it without an internet connection.
Import the EPUB from Dropbox or Google Drive
The following Kobo models can import non-protected EPUB and PDF files from Dropbox or Google Drive:
- Kobo Forma
- Kobo Sage
- Kobo Elipsa
- Kobo Elipsa 2E
- Kobo Libra Colour
Dropbox requires Kobo software 4.18 or later. Google Drive requires software 4.37 or later.
Use Dropbox
Link your Dropbox account from the Kobo e-reader. Put the EPUB in the Kobo cloud folder, then sync the e-reader. The story will appear in the library on that device.
Use Google Drive
From the Kobo Home screen, open More, select My Google Drive, and choose Get Started. The Kobo will show a code. Enter it on the Kobo website to link your Google Drive account.
Put the Chireads EPUB in the linked cloud folder, then sync the Kobo. The story will appear in the device’s library.
Books imported through Dropbox or Google Drive appear only on the Kobo where you added them.
Choose EPUB for Kobo
EPUB is the best choice for reading a Chireads story on Kobo. WP Downloader offers it free to everyone, and Kobo e-readers open it natively.
WP Downloader can also create a PDF, but downloading one requires a free Discord sign-in. EPUB does not require that extra sign-in or any file conversion.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
Download new chapters
An EPUB contains the chapters available when you download it. WP Downloader cannot add later chapters to an EPUB already on your Kobo.
When a Chireads story has new chapters, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new EPUB. Transfer the new file by USB, Dropbox, or Google Drive using the same steps.
