How to Put MTT Just Once Stories on Kindle with calibre
You can put an MTT Just Once story on a Kindle without using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First download the story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then use calibre to convert it to AZW3 and copy it to your Kindle over USB.
You will need a computer because calibre runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything for the download.
What you need
Have these ready:
- The MTT Just Once story page
- A computer with calibre installed
- Your Kindle e-reader
- A USB cable that connects the Kindle to the computer
An MTT Just Once story URL usually looks like this:
http://mtt.just-once.net/fanfiction/viewstory.php?sid=1234 You do not need an MTT Just Once account. WP Downloader downloads the entire story from this archive, not individual chapters or lists.
1. Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the MTT Just Once downloader in your browser.
Copy the story URL from mtt.just-once.net, paste it into the downloader, and start the download. WP Downloader detects the site from the link and prepares the whole story.
Choose EPUB for this guide. EPUB is free for everyone, and calibre can convert it to AZW3 for your Kindle. You can also choose whether to include the story’s images.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files, so calibre handles the Kindle conversion.

2. Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre on your computer and select Add books. Find the EPUB you downloaded and add it to your calibre library.
You can edit the story’s metadata or cover before converting it, though this is optional.
You can also check the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer before transferring it. The viewer has a Read aloud feature if you want to listen on your computer.
3. Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in your calibre library, then choose Convert books.
Set AZW3 as the output format and start the conversion. AZW3 is a Kindle format that you can transfer directly to a Kindle e-reader over USB.
calibre can also convert books to MOBI or PDF. Kindle e-readers still open AZW3 and MOBI files copied over USB. Amazon stopped accepting MOBI through its Send to Kindle service, but that change did not affect USB transfers.
4. Connect your Kindle over USB
Connect the Kindle to your computer with its USB cable. When calibre recognizes the device, select the converted story in your library.
Choose Send to device. calibre will copy the book to the Kindle over USB.
Once the transfer finishes, disconnect the Kindle. The story will then be available to read offline on the device.
USB transfer or Send to Kindle?
The calibre method copies the file directly from your computer to the connected Kindle. You convert the EPUB to AZW3 yourself and transfer it over USB instead of uploading it through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service.
If you prefer to use Amazon’s service without converting the file in calibre, see how to send MTT Just Once stories to Kindle.

Getting updated chapters
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB already in your library. If the MTT Just Once story gets new chapters, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
Add the new EPUB to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and send that version to your Kindle over USB.
