Put a Stories of Arda story on a Kindle with calibre
You can put a Stories of Arda story on your Kindle without using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then use calibre to convert it to AZW3 and transfer it to your Kindle over USB.
You will need a Windows, macOS, or Linux computer and a USB cable that connects your Kindle to it.
What you need
Have these ready:
- The Stories of Arda chapter-list link
- A computer with calibre installed
- Your Kindle e-reader
- A compatible USB cable
calibre is a free e-book manager. It can organize EPUB files, edit their metadata and covers, convert them to Kindle formats, and transfer books to an e-reader over USB.
Step 1: Copy the Stories of Arda story link
Open the story on storiesofarda.com and copy its chapter-list URL. It should look like this:

You do not need to sign in to Stories of Arda.
Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the Stories of Arda downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader will detect the site and prepare the complete story.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images.
Save the EPUB somewhere you can find it easily, such as your Downloads folder. WP Downloader runs in your browser, so you do not need to install it.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books. Find the downloaded EPUB and add it to your calibre library.
The story will appear in your book list. You can use calibre’s metadata tools to change its title, author information, or cover before transferring it.
You can also check the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer. The viewer has a Read aloud feature if you want to listen on your computer.
Step 4: Connect your Kindle over USB
Connect the Kindle to your computer with the USB cable and wait for calibre to recognize it. calibre will indicate when the e-reader is connected.
Keep the Kindle connected until the transfer is complete.
Step 5: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in your calibre library, then choose Convert books. Set EPUB as the input format and AZW3 as the output format. Start the conversion and wait for it to finish.
AZW3 is a Kindle format that you can copy to the device over USB. calibre can also convert EPUB files to MOBI or PDF, but this guide uses AZW3.
WP Downloader does not create AZW3 or MOBI files. calibre handles the conversion.
Step 6: Send the story to your Kindle
Select the converted story and choose Send to device. calibre will transfer the book to the connected Kindle.
Wait for the transfer to finish before disconnecting the Kindle. The story will then be available to read on the device.

Downloading new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you have already downloaded. If the author adds chapters, paste the story link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy of the complete story.
Add the new EPUB to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and transfer it to your Kindle again.

Can I transfer the downloaded EPUB directly to my Kindle?
For this USB method, convert the EPUB to AZW3 with calibre, then select Send to device. AZW3 is a Kindle format.
Does Kindle still support MOBI files over USB?
Yes. Kindles still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB. Amazon’s Send to Kindle service stopped accepting MOBI, but you can still transfer MOBI files over USB.
Do I need a Stories of Arda account?
No. You do not need to sign in to download a Stories of Arda story with WP Downloader.
Can I download only one chapter?
No. WP Downloader downloads the complete Stories of Arda story, not individual chapters or lists.
Can I use the same EPUB with a Kobo?
