How to put a Tenhawk Presents story on Kindle with calibre
You can put a Tenhawk Presents story on a Kindle without using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First download the story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then add it to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and copy it to your Kindle over USB.
This method works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is useful if you manage your books locally or already keep your library in calibre.
What you need
Have the following ready:
- The Tenhawk Presents story link
- A computer with calibre installed
- A Kindle e-reader
- A USB connection between the computer and Kindle
calibre is a free e-book manager. It can add EPUB files to your library, edit metadata and covers, convert books to other formats, and send them to a connected e-reader.
Step 1: Download the Tenhawk Presents story
Open the Tenhawk Presents downloader in your browser. WP Downloader is a free web tool, and you do not need to install anything.
Copy the story’s Tenhawk Presents URL. It should look similar to this:
http://t.evancurrie.ca/viewstory.php?sid=1234Paste the link into WP Downloader. The tool will detect the site automatically. Public stories do not require an account. You can optionally sign in with your Tenhawk Presents account to download members-only stories that the account can already read.
WP Downloader does not bypass account requirements, access restrictions, or locked content. It uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images. For Tenhawk Presents, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories.

Step 2: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select “Add books.” Find the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader and add it to your calibre library.
You can edit the story’s metadata or cover before converting it. Skip this if you are happy with how the book already appears.
Step 3: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in calibre and choose the option to convert books. Set AZW3 as the output format, then start the conversion.
WP Downloader does not create AZW3 or MOBI files. It downloads the story as an EPUB, which calibre can convert to a Kindle format.
AZW3 works well for this method because Kindle e-readers can open AZW3 files copied directly to the device. calibre can also convert an EPUB to formats such as MOBI or PDF.
Step 4: Connect your Kindle over USB
Connect your Kindle to the computer with USB. After calibre recognizes it, select the converted story and choose “Send to device.”
Once the transfer finishes, disconnect the Kindle and open the story from its library. The book will be available for offline reading.
The file moves directly from your computer to the Kindle, without going through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service.
USB transfer and Send to Kindle
Amazon’s Send to Kindle service no longer accepts MOBI files. Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 books copied over USB.
The two methods transfer files differently:
- Send to Kindle uploads an accepted file through Amazon’s service.
- calibre converts the book and copies it directly from your computer to the Kindle over USB.

Read the story on your computer
You can read the downloaded EPUB without a Kindle. calibre includes an e-book viewer with a “Read aloud” feature.

Get new chapters
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB already in your library. When the author adds chapters, download the whole story again.

Can I download one chapter instead of the whole story?
