How to read AlternateHistory stories offline on a flight

Download the story before your flight

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. While you have internet access, open the AlternateHistory.com downloader and paste the story thread’s URL into the box.

Choose an output format:

• EPUB is free for everyone.
• PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
• You can include the story’s images in the downloaded book.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. If the author adds chapters later, download the story again. WPD cannot update an EPUB you already have.

You do not need an AlternateHistory.com account for public stories. Signing in is optional and lets WP Downloader reach members-only stories that your account can already read. It cannot bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions. Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested.

Put the book on your reading device

Save or send the book to your reading device before you leave. Check that the file opens while you still have internet access.

Phone or tablet

Download the EPUB or PDF to the phone or tablet you plan to carry, then open it in an app that supports that format.

If you use the Kindle app, send the book to Kindle before leaving. After the book opens, turn on airplane mode and try it again to confirm that it is stored on the device.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Amazon’s Send to Kindle service accepts EPUB and PDF files. You can deliver the book by email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address, with the Send to Kindle app, or through Send to Kindle on the web.

Amazon converts the EPUB during delivery. The book then appears in your Kindle library on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app. Delivery requires an internet connection, so finish it before your flight. When sending by email, you must use an address on your approved sender list.

Kobo

Save the EPUB on your Kobo before you travel, then check that it opens. The AlternateHistory.com Kobo guide explains the process.

Laptop

Download either format to your laptop. Open the finished file in the app you plan to use during the flight and keep it stored on the laptop.

Check the book in airplane mode

Before you leave:

1. Download the complete story with WP Downloader.
2. Confirm that the file finished downloading.
3. Move or send it to the device you will use.
4. Open the book and check a few chapters.
5. Turn on airplane mode.
6. Close the book, open it again, and confirm that it still loads.

Can I read the downloaded story without Wi-Fi?

Yes. Once the EPUB or PDF is stored on your device, it opens without an internet connection. Download and test it before leaving.

Should I choose EPUB or PDF?
